We visited England for my 60th birthday. Seeing Stonehenge has always been a dream, to walk inside the circle was unbelievable! More than I expected. One big one crossed off the bucket list.
My Recommendation Tip
The tour of Cottswelds was disappointing because at Canterbury Abby, there was a graduation happening. No one told us till we got there and we couldn't go i nside. This could have been booked for a different day if we had known.
Same at Greenwich. Graduation, construction and we arrivved after the centre was closed. Could not get into the painted Hall or up to the Observatory. Not enough time and too much construction. Again if we had known we could have gone there on our own later, but we were on the tour on the last full day we had so we missed things I really wanted to see.
I think it is the responsibility of the tour companies to let patrons know what they will be missing. I can appreciate that they want full buses to keep their revenue high, but on the backs of enthusiatic tourists is not the way to go about it. I would not recommend this tour to any friends. It seems the dollar (pound) is more important than customer satisfaction.
I do not blame Viatour. They make these arrangements , I am sure, with the best of intentions. However, I think the local companies Viatour deals with has an obligation to make all perinent information available so they can best advise customers on best time to view.
I loved every minute in England, and would not change any of the tours, except that I would really like to have been able to make my own decision if I wanted to go when I could not see all that was advertised.
