May is one of the perfect seasons to enjoy Kyoto! Why don't you enjoy really fresh air in a cozy late Spring weather, strolling through the comfortable paths surrounded by beautiful green leaves and colorful flowers of Iris and Azalea. On 15th of May, Please do not miss a big festival in Kyoto, Aoi Matsuri Festival!! This is one of the three big festivals in Kyoto along with the Gion Festival and the Jidai Matsuri (Festival of Ages)! The highlight is the gorgeous parade recreating the exact scene of the ancient Heian Court.

After enjoying the awesome Spring in 'Cherry Blossoms', in Kyoto the next famous sign of the season is already coming up on the riverside! 'Kamogawa Yuka', or a riverside balconies made of wood is for unique dining, and one of the seasonal symbol of Kyoto. When you see it's set up above the west bank of Kamo River, it comfortably reminds you of Spring's finished and the city has set up to welcome the Summer!
