Skip the Line: Ancient Rome and Colosseum Half-Day Walking Tour

Rome, Italy

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

My wife and I did this tour and the Vatican Tour and Best of Rome Walking Tour. We randomly got Mario, the same tour guide that we had for the Walking Tour. Regardless, he was a delight both the first and second time around. I am astonished and the amount of knowledge and detail that he shares so passionately. In a 3.5 hour tour, I don’t think more than a few seconds went by without him sharing a fact or detail both relevant and entertaining about the various sites we saw. The Coliseum is a site to see, probably my favorite in all of Rome. My only advice is that if you want to take pictures throughout the tour, make sure to let Mario know as he tends to move quickly from one sight to another.Definitely recommend this to anyone visiting and wanting to learn the ancient and fascinating history.

Skip the Line: Vatican Museums Walking Tour including Sistine Chapel, Raphael's Rooms and St Peter's

Rome, Italy

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

This tour included the Vatican and Sistine Chapel and was a very informative day with our wonderful tour guide Anna (we thought it included St Peter's Basilica but was closed on Wednesday morning so we were unable to go). Anna was a gem. She was very considerate of all the age groups, people wanting to take pictures, and even a couple that had two babies with them. She made sure everyone was comfortable and that no one was ever left behind. She was extremely knowledgeable and made the history lesson very interesting and enjoyable. I thoroughly enjoyed having her as our tour guide. Overall I’m a fan and would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of seeing Rome and learning its history.

Best of Rome Walking Tour: Pantheon, Piazza Navona and Trevi Fountain

Rome, Italy

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

This tour covered Piazza Popolo, Trevi fountain, Spanish steps, and the Pantheon. Our guide Mario was great! We did have an extreme tourist which demanded much of Mario’s time and attention resulting in frustration across some of our other members. Nevertheless, he was friendly and it was a pleasure having him as our tour guide. This tour requires staying on your feet for about 3 hours so be prepared and have comfortable walking shoes. There is a lot of history to be heard and absorbed – Trevi Fountain was definitely my favorite. The only recommendation I would have is that Mario does not stop for tourists to take pictures of each attraction – just ask or let him know that you need some time and he will definitely give it to you.

Private Tour: Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi and Ravello Day Trip from Naples

Naples, Italy

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

Although this tour provided a beautiful day trip to some of the most amazing sites I have ever seen, I would question whether it was the price my wife and I paid as this is a private tour and cost ~$600. Our driver was a gentleman named Rosario and the tour guide was Maria. Rosario was an absolute delight - sweet, easy going and a very safe driver. Maria was nice enough but we weren’t really thrilled with the experience. We felt rushed through all the cities. We weren’t even able to get any time to really see anything or explore. We literally drove right through Positano and didn’t even stop to see anything. We were very disappointed with the “recommended” restaurant – it was extremely expensive, the food was mediocre, and the service was slow so it took an hour of our already limited day when we could have picked something up to go (better off stopping at a pizza join in Sorrento or Amalfi). Also, it’s scheduled to be an 8 hour trip but you spend nearly an hour just getting to the coast along with the hour long lunch so time in each city is limited with no flexibility to make non-scheduled stops. Although Maria was very knowledgeable and nice, we felt slightly rushed through the experience and felt that we could have utilized our time better.

Capri Day Trip with Lunch from Naples

Naples, Italy

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

After seeing all the reviews about being timely and organized, we were sadly disappointed to see how hectic and chaotic the process of getting people to the port was, along with getting on the boat. We almost missed the boat because our tour guide Roberta was running around trying to collect all the people. It happened to be raining a bit, but it seemed that Roberta was more annoyed about this than even the members of our tour group. She was making a lot of sour faces as if she were she were being inconvenienced to be there. Also, she was not very friendly and not very considerate - there was an older couple that was on the tour. Rather than accommodating to their health issues, she again seemed inconvenienced and would go ahead of the group when walking anywhere. Regardless, Capri itself is an absolutely beautiful island and worth seeing. Even with poor weather and not being able to see the highlight Blue Grotto, I am still happy that I visited the island and the chairlift to the top of the island is worth the 10 euros. Overall the reviews of this tour and the guide are good so I’m hoping that our experience was a one off instance.

Tuscany in One Day Sightseeing Tour

Florence, Italy

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

We really enjoyed this tour. Becky was an absolute delight. She gave lots of great information and history. She was considerate and very sweet. She made sure everyone was comfortable and had everything they needed. Even though it hailed when we were at the winery, it didn’t take away from the delicious food and the yummy wine - if anything it made everything all the more entertaining. We got to see Siena, San Giminano, Pisa, and Tuscany’s beautiful landscape. As busy as the day was, we moved at a desirable pace, ate some great gelato and also had time for independent sight-seeing and shopping. Pisa was absolutely fascinating. We highly recommend this tour.
