British Virgin Islands
Anegada - Nothing to Do, and All Day to Do It. Our favorite place to rest and find each other again. The only coral island in the British Virgins, and is a delight to all who venture there. Anegada is all about the people and the water. Bonefishing, Sportfishing, Kite Boarding, Sailing and time on the most pristine tropical beaches anywhere.
Anegada can be reached by water ferry from Spanish Town on Virgin Gorda, or Road Town on Tortola. The ferry takes about 90 minutes from Road Town or 60 minutes from Virgin Gorda and operates Mon-Wed-Fri early morning and loate afternoon only. A better alternative is the air charter company, Fly BVI ( www.flybvi.com ), who offer Day Trips for just $175 per person and include a Lobster lunch at the Big Bamboo beach bar and restaurant near Loblolly Bay. Fly BVI also offers private charter service all over the Caribbean. We use them to go to Anegada each season at a rate of $475 for a 5-passenger airplane. Not bad, since it's on our schedule. There is no scheduled air service to the island at all.
Try lunch at The Cow Wreck beach bar as well. Excellent menu and you just cannot beat the expanse of beach that runs along the whole north shore. Breakfast at Pam's Kitchen near Neptune's Treasure, the best place on Anegada for fresh-caught fish. Drive around the island and try to see the gorgeous flamingos. There is a rock iguana sanctuary in the settlement too. Whatever you do on Anegada, just RELAX.
