Pick up arrived ahead of the agreed time and we had an uneventful trip to easily make our flight. Importantly, the driver drove safely.

Bangkok Airport Shared Arrival Transfer

We were met at the exit to the Baggage Hall as agreed and had an uneventful transfer to our hotel (in a slightly rough bus but not so as to turn us off).

Private Al Ain City Sightseeing Tour - The Garden City

My Rating

This is an expensive tour and the camel market and the oasis were the highlights. We would have preferred more time at the markets in fact. Could have passed on the archeological site that wasn't.

Dubai City Half-Day Sightseeing Tour
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
My Rating

Spent an inordinately long time driving around Dubai collecting people only to then drive a lot of the same roads as part of the tour. We shared the English tour with the German tour and, unfortunately for the tour guides, I know enough German to know that the Germans on the tour got the better of it. Won't do it again.

Private Transfer: Gare du Nord Train Station (Eurostar Terminal)
Paris, France
My Rating

These Paris transfers always leave me in two minds as to their value for money but a couple of days of Paris traffic and the fact that you are never left at risk of not making your flight (or in this case, train) because they always pick you up at what seems ridiculously early times and I am convinced.

London St Pancras Eurostar Private Departure Transfer
London, United Kingdom
My Rating

We were picked up at precisely the agreed time and arrived at St Pancras in plenty of time to make our train. Could have done with a little bit less rush rush with the driving otherwise a pleasant way to catch a special train.

Budapest Airport Private Arrival Transfer
Budapest, Hungary
My Rating

This transfer is good value. Our driver was on time, helpful and polite and drove at sensible speeds. The pick up time was sensible in relation to our flight departure time and we felt we were well served by our driver in a clean, well kept vehicle.

London St Pancras Eurostar Private Arrival Transfer
London, United Kingdom
My Rating

We were picked up as we exited the Immigration gates at St Pancras by a very polite, well dressed man who identified himself to us by a clear, neat sign with our name on it. The vehicle was neat and clean and the drive was comfortable and safe. Unlike his French counterparts, he did not use his mobile phone or iPad while driving at stupid speeds! The only downside was the fact that, through no fault of the transfer company, it is a long walk with luggage to the parking area.

Behind the Scenes of a Boulangerie : French Bakery Tour in Paris
Paris, France
My Rating

Just superb! We had the most interested and informative tour guide who met us promptly at the boulangerie and we were initiated, educated and entertained in the finer points of baguette and croissant making by the happiest baker in Paris. Hats off to Le Petit Mitron for an excellent experience and a whole bunch of baguettes and croissants to take back to our hotel with us. Should not be missed if you are in Paris, want something different to do and love french bread the way we do!

Barcelona Airport Departure Shuttle Transfer
Barcelona, Spain
My Rating

As always with these transfers, one is left wondering, by the time you circle Barcelona to pick up two other sets of passengers for what is really only a short run to Barcelona Airport and leave your hotel three hours before your flight, whether or not a cab would have been just as (or more) suitable, particularly early in the morning as thos one was. On this occasion I would have gone with the cab if I had known what would be involved. I always get the distinct impression with some of these shared shuttle transfers that they are organised as to time and route to suit the transfer company and not me. I know I can arrange a private transfer if I want personal service but I just feel that the compromise on convenience and cost is all one way with some of these shared transfers.

Paris Shuttle Arrival Transfer: Orly Airport (ORY)
Paris, France
My Rating

This was your typical Paris arrival shared shuttle transfer where you have to call from a pay phone (when you find one), be told to wait 15 - 20 minutes at the arrivals gate that always seems to also be used by all the smokers, actually wait 30 minutes then face a hair raising trip at speed into the City. If Paris' airports weren't so far away from where we want to go in the City, I'd take a cab.

Barcelona Day Trip: Montserrat, Colonia Guell and Gaudi Crypt
Barcelona, Spain
My Rating

We only took this tour for the Gaudi parts and it proved to be a pretty accurate assessment of the value in the tour. Monserrat on a holiday Tuesday was a giant bore. The Colonia Guell walking tour was interesting though the Gaudi crypt visit was rushed and uninformative. I don't know who thought Spanish "champagne" was a good idea at 10 o'clock in the morning but it isn't.

Toledo is a long drive from Madrid when you start so early in the morning. We could do without the shop stop on the way though it did provide a toilet break. Toledo is worth the look.

Madrid City Hop-on Hop-off Tour
Madrid, Spain
My Rating

This tour delivers nearly everything that it promises. There are numerous opportunities to swap from one route to another and the commentary over those horrible ear phones is informative and comprehensive. The only criticism would be the way the busses tend to bunch up towards the end of the day with some big gaps between the bunches as a result.

Madrid Airport Arrival Shuttle Transfer
Madrid, Spain
My Rating

This transfer was just adequate. The student manning the desk was humourless and bored and we were given the distinct impression that the delay in leaving the terminal was due to some horsetrading by the driver to take some non-paying or less-paying extras from someone else.

Paris Shuttle Arrival Transfer: Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)
Paris, France
My Rating

This transfer is one I dread having done it four times in the last two months. You wait longer than promised because the shuttle service is consolidating as many trippers into the bus as they possibly can and circulating around all those terminals at CDG takes a fair bit of time. Then you face some of the most ridiculous driving on the planet. Twice our driver spent half the trip on his mobile phone and once we had a driver who used his iPad at over 100 km an hour with eight passengers on board. If there are more than two of you, take a cab!

The illuminations tour is so-so mostly because of the rules about where buses can or can't go or can or can't stop, I guess. The Moulin Rouge show is excellent.
