The tour (and a few others offered by this company, gathers in a sidewalk where they have no office and little shelter or rest rooms) We left Munich on a full bus in the rain. Once on the way, they announced that tje Eagle's Nest was closed due to snow and ice (not their fault). Several people said they would have gotten off the bus if they knew it was closed and rescheduled. Then they said plan B was they would still go to Berchtesgaden and the Documentation Center ( which is a former hotel Hitler used for guests and a rest. / museum/ bunker network, then on to a Salt Mine. The center would cost us 3E each and the salt mine 16E ea. The doc. center is almost totally in German and very crowded. The salt mines where interesting. Its a fairly long bus ride and it rained the entire time. I thought it was expensive bus ride to a beautiful area of German, but for the price of the ride, they could have been more considerate and should have offered more. I would look to see what other cities that are closer offers this tour rather than Munich.
The guide, Nicola, was excellent. Very knowledgeable and passionate about explaining the camps history. There is much to see and do at the camp and everything in the museum is in German and English. Rainy and cold put a negative edge to the tour, but besides that, a worth while tour to take in Munich.
A pleasant bus and boat ride. Poor guide had a full bus and had to speak 3 languages. Tourist type stops at the wooden shoe maker factory and cheese factory. Both were interesting. Some free time for lunch. Visit to the wind mills was brief and really there was very little to see or do there since all the wind mills were closed.
This is a good tour to take if you have nothing else to do, but in my opinion, over priced. They have 2 routes and 18 to 21 stops (depends of which literature you read). We found the stops where easily identify, and often not too close to the stops main attraction. The head phone wires were to short, so you always had to lean forward so as not to disengage the narrative. I expected it to be better based on other Hop ON Hop Off tours we've taken.
