This was my favorite tour of all our tours in Italy – it has been hard to stop talking about it since I returned from my trip. To visit this amazing place with a special guide was an experience we will never forget. I was concerned we might have a stodgy art historian “official” guide that would bore us with facts and figures, but our guide was fantastic, and a great story teller. One thing he did which I thought was great is that he carried an iPad with him to assist in various ways, including showing us close up detail of art on the ceiling that would have been hard for him to point out from afar. The whole tour was amazing, but of course the best part was the Sistine Chapel. The last time I was there, I was shoulder to shoulder with hundreds of tourists and my main memory was the crowds. This time, we had the entire room to ourselves – incredible! Without a doubt, this tour is definitely worth the expense.
