Private Transfer: Langkawi Arrival Airport to Hotel Transfer

We booked transfer not knowing Langkawi has fixed metered taxi fares on island. The cost locally for a taxi is 20 rm to the hotel where we were staying which is approx $7.00 AUD. We paid over $51.00 AUD for exactly the same service. The driver never spoke - he was cheerful but not engaging in conversation. I probably expected more for paying 7 times the amount it actaully cost.
