Munich City Hop-on Hop-off Tour

Munich, Germany

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

Having very successfully used the "Hop On-Hop Off" tour buses in both Florence and Paris, it naturally seemed a great idea in Munich as well. The operator for the HO-HO in Munich they're not quite as organized as the operators running the tours in other cities. If you've used these tours/mode of transportation to specific sites in other cities, the primary difference is this: a) even though you have your signed paper voucher in-hand, for your initial trip, you have to stand in line and get your "ticket" before you're allowed to board the bus. After that, just show your receipt to board. b) you do not receive headphones...however, in this case, if you speak English or German, you wouldn't need them, as those versions of the "audio tour" are done live by a guide. The quality is sort of hit and miss... it is true (I've read elsewhere), that the German version is first, followed by the English. However, our first guide was extremely efficient, spoke great English, and was able to recite the information in both languages before passing the site she was talking about. Our second tour guide, not so much. However, it IS still a great way to get familiar with the city!

Salzburg Small Group Day Tour from Munich

Munich, Germany

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

I recommend this tour if you've never been to Salzburg and want a hassle free way of doing so. Radius Tours (located IN the main train station) does a great job with their tours. This trip is a lovely 2 hour train ride to Salzburg, traveling through the Bavarian countryside and into the mountains. After the train, a short bus ride takes you to the main part of the city where you start a fairly short, informative tour about the city. After that, you have about 3 hours to explore on your own. The city is quite charming with lots of fun things to see and do... or you can just sit in a sidewalk cafe, eat something sweet and sip coffee (or beer!). It's very fairly priced for the value received!

Hitler and the Third Reich Munich Walking Tour

Munich, Germany

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

This is an excellent tour to take if you want to learn, and experience the details of the Third Reich in Munich. Our tour guide (originally from Australia - Amanda, I believe, @ Radius Tours) was literally a walking, talking encyclopedia of accurate knowledge and made the walk very engaging and educational. It's well worth the few dollars they charge to participate in this tour. I do recommend comfortable walking attire. We covered about 4 miles in the two hours, and moved at a fairly fast pace, considering we spent around 10 minutes or so at each "stop" on the tour.

Romantic Road, Rothenburg and Harburg Day Tour from Munich

Munich, Germany

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

If you've not been to Rothenburg, you really should go! It's an adorable, charming medieval town with lots of cute shops, places to eat, and great history.. the short tour was very informative, and then you have several hours to explore, eat, and buy goodies on your own. On the way to Rothenburg, you make a stop at Harburg Castle which is very charming as well, with a great little tour of the place. Trip is a nice bus ride (with select beverages and a potty on-board) from Munich. Great value for the money!

Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Small Group Tour from Munich

Munich, Germany

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

WOW is the first thing that comes to mind to describe our day trip to Dachau. The memorial is very tastefully done, and the materials and subject matter respectfully presented, which seems amazing, I know, in light of the events that took place at this location. Our RADUIS TOURS guide, KEITH, was nothing short of phenomenal. His knowledge and attention to every known detail about Dachau will stun you. He helped make the tour subject more approachable, while at the same time, not minimizing the brutal reality of where we were, and what we were talking about. Be sure to ask for a tour that KEITH is conducting. It's a VERY sobering experience to visit Dachau. Be prepared to walk a bit with most all of the surfaces being gravel. I highly recommend this tour with Keith!

Tuscany in One Day Sightseeing Tour

Florence, Italy

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

We honeymooned in Florence just last week and had decided prior to our arrival to take this tour. We had an incredible time! The scenery was gorgeous, the tour comprehensive, and the lunch delicious. Our lovely and talented tour guide, BECKY, made the trip fun and easy. We HIGHLY recommend this tour if you're considering a trip to Tuscany and want to experience some of the life outside of the immediate Florence area. It's very affordably priced, well organized, and an outstanding way to have a beautiful day! Thanks Becky and Walkabout Tours! Brenda + Tim, Kansas

Skip the Line: Florence Uffizi Gallery Tickets

Florence, Italy

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

We would definitely recommend purchasing the "Skip the Line" passes for the Uffizi. Just last week there were MANY people waiting in line just to purchase tickets, and the line of people WITH tickets waiting to get in was crazy. We found the tour company on the sidewalk, they took the voucher, handed us our tickets, and in we went! We wouldn't do it any other way! B+T, Kansas

Florence City Hop-on Hop-off Tour

Florence, Italy

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

If you want a quick and easy way to see the city you're visiting and scope out the sights for later visits, the Hop-On, Hop-Off is the only way to go. We've now used it in both Florence AND last year in Paris, and it's well worth the value. In fact, both trips now we've purchased additional days to ride. The audio tours are great (and your ticket purchase comes with a set of your own headphones, issued on the bus), giving you just enough information to keep the tour informative and interesting without reaching the point of boring. We'll definitely use them again! B+T, Kansas
