Skip the Line: Venice in One Day Including Boat Tour

Venice, Italy

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

The walking tour was 1 star at best, but the Grand Canal boat tour was worth the entire price. Three things you need to know about this tour: 1) walking tour is only as good as your guide and our guide was late and very hard to understand and we had 31 people in our group; 2) Anyone can skip the line to St. Mark's for 1 euro booked in advance; but 3) the power boat tour of the canals was fantastic and starts after the walking tour with a smaller group of 10 or less. Our boat tour guide was energetic and knowledgeable. You get to see almost all of the main sites in Venice from this boat tour alone. This trip can be booked separately for 30 euros per person from the dock area near the Royal Garden, but the boats are bigger and less personal.

Skip the Line: Uffizi Gallery and Vasari Corridor Walking Tour

Florence, Italy

My Review

The Vasari Corridor is worth the price of this tour alone. Access to the Uffizi without a wait is certainly a benefit, but you need to know that you will not see all of the Uffizi on this tour. As with all guided tours, you have varying quality in guides and our guide was not particularly knowledgeable or easy to understand. The first part of the tour takes you through about half of the main gallery before you enter the Vasari Corridor with the aide of tour museum guards. Once you enter the corridor you are not allowed to leave the tour for security reasons. The passage the leads from the Uffizi over the streets of Florence, the Ponte Vecchio and all the way to the Palazzo Pitti is incredible. The paintings that line every inch of the walls are not particularly notable, but the historical value is awesome. The tour concludes by releasing you inside the Palazzo Pitti (so you skip the lines) so plan to take advantage by staying on your own after the tour to see the gardens and palace (some areas require extra admission price). We did not hear of any other way to get access to the Vasari Corridor so that makes this tour a must see in Florence, although you may want to return to see the rest of the Uffizi on your own (which requires another admission price and wait on line).
