My Review: Joanne was a reasonable guide, who needs to continue to study art and iconography and to confess when she doesn't know the answer to questions. The gallery itself is very worthwhile visiting, but the tour should be reduced to 2 hours and the useless visit of the gardens eliminated - the info about it could be delivered in a 5-minute valedictory talk by the guide outside the Borghese.

My Review: Another essential tour. Davide, our guide, was terrific, with an enthusiasm for the history of the places and the ability to engage his listeners. An example of a local guide with a real feeling for the stories he was telling and a personal stake in the life of Rome.

My Review: The tour is a must. But the crowds are dreadful and reduce the impact of the experience - I advise going early before it really opens if you can. Our guide, Michelle, did a good job in the circumstances (I suspect guides find it a difficult tour to run) but a guide should not ask for tips at the end.

Venice Walking Tour and Gondola Ride

My Review: Rosanna was a satisfactory guide who showed us through the basic sights and explained some things. But the gondola ride needs better organisation. The idea is fine, but a quieter time of day would give a calmer ride, and 6 people should not be crammed in because one passenger gets a dodgy and unstable seat. The gondoliers weren't interested - they chatted amongst themselves without apparently noticing that we were there.

My Review: Sabrina was a VERY knowledgeable, caring and generous guide. The route is engaging and allows for some lively story-telling. An all-inclusive price would be better, instead of the "optional" church and additional payment for the final stop, which any tourist would be silly to miss.

My Review: Laura was an excellent guide and coped well with recalcitrant staff at the Doge's Palace. It's a really interesting place, especially the range of sights it offers - colourful and grand rooms, prison cells, the bridge..... However, it would be much better to pay for everything up front, instead of this messy additional entry payment.
