The transfer to the airport was slick and convenient, and the tour guide and bus driver were really lovely.
Taroko Gorge is beautiful and well worth the visit. Every corner brings a new astounding view.
However, the timing was unbalanced - several times we felt rushed at the beauty spots in the gorge, but then at the end of the tour we were left for ages a a Jade workshop.
The 'aboriginal dance' felt very tacky - on review we wouldn't have spent the 200NT each to see it.
The Jade Workshop seemed a cheap shot to get money from us - especially as many of the products are cheaper in Taipei's night markets.
The tour guide was extremely friendly and built up a good rapport. Both Huaxi Night Market and Longshan temple were great stops, and Taipei 101 was pretty good too.
The Mongolian Dinner wasn't the experience we were expecting - a crowded buffet dinner mixing together a wide range of Asian foods, with the option of having meat and vegetables (similar to Shabu-Shabu, if you are familiar with it) cooked on a large metal sheet while you wait. If you catch them during a cleaning phase, this can take 15 minutes.
