There was too much time allocated for the gardens, and when it came time for the tour of the Palace you were rushed through from room to room with 100's and 100's of other people, thus not affording you either time or space to view.
More time was needed to actually view and listen to the guide without being so rushed. I think our tour started at 5 and we were on our way back to the bus by 6.

I just hate it when you are dumped in a town and told to amuse yourselves for several hours. Yes I agree some free time is required but it was far too long, especially on a cold wet rainy day.
Alternatives should be thought of if the weather is unsuitable for wandering through a small town.

Was a lovely day; only problem was being left at Obernai for the lunch break when all the shops were shut.
