Skip the Line: Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basilica Half-Day Walking Tour
Rome, Italy
My Rating

What a fantastic way for my husband and I to start our 4 day trip in Rome. We were guided through the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basilica by Serena in a group of 18 people. 27th September was World Tourism Day which meant entrance was free and there was probably more people than usual taking advantage of the free day. Serena was still able to keep our group together through the crowds of people and got us all through to the end in one piece! She was very informative with the history of The Vatican in particular the paintings of Michelangelo, but made it enjoyable and certainly not a stuffy history lesson. She was funny and injected humor into the tour and loved to pass on pieces of "historical gossip" in her guide, which was appreciated by the group. We paid £52.26 for the tour and 12 euros for the booking fee and use of the headsets. I must admit, if we had to pay the 21 euros each for the usual entrance fee, it would have been a bit expensive for 2 people and if we were there with family, we would not have considered taking a guided tour. That said, I really did enjoy our walk and would recommend it to anyone visiting Rome.
