Skip the Line: Venice in One Day

My Review: This is the 2nd time I did this tour. I also did it 4 years ago when I visited Venice. When you get there and check in there is a lot of waiting around to get started. The nice thing about this tour is you do get to the skip the line at St. Mark's Basilica, which is worth looking inside. Although it is a quick walk thru of the church, so if you are looking for a more substantial tour of St. Mark’s, this isn’t the tour for you. You do get to see the two sides of Venice – the crowded tourist area of St. Mark’s and Rialto Bridge and then some of the deserted back squares. We were definitely ready for a break after the walking tour and had about 3 hours to eat lunch and explore Venice on our own before the cruise along the Grand Canal. Although there is once again a lot of waiting around for the tour to start once you check in. The grand canal cruise is definitely the highlight, although this time we did take a different route than when I did the tour before, but all go down the grand canal of course. What I really like is that they don’t cram you in the water taxi for the tour and there is plenty of room!

Munich City Hop-on Hop-off Tour

My Review: I am not sure I would do this tour when the weather is bad and the top is up. We did this tour on the last day of March, so the last day of their winter schedule and the bus was crammed full. They definitely needed to run the tours more often. We were up top and the seats were very uncomfortable. Keep in mind that I am only 5 feet tall, so I am not big person and I didn’t have enough room in the seat. With the top up, you could not see much. When I was in Munich 4 years ago, I did a bike tour and found that a better way to see all the sights on the express tour. The only good thing about this tour is that is does go out to the Palace of Nymphenburg and Olympic Park. We sat downstairs when we got back on the bus, and although it wasn’t as crowded it is hard to see the sights from downstairs.

Lisbon Airport Private Departure Transfer

My Review: I had to talk to the transfer company 4 times before they could give me a pick up time for my airport departure (and it cost me each time I made a call). They were supposed to call the hotel while I was out sightseeing and leave a message with the departure time, but of course didn't bother. Each time I talked to them I reiterated that I needed them to provide an infant car seat for my daughter. Each time I was told - No problem, we have it noted. But when the driver showed up, there was no car seat. He told us he was not informed one was needed. My husband was surprised the driver actually showed up.

Lisbon Hop-on Hop-off Tour

My Review: There are two routes. The red route does the old Lisbon loop and the blue route does the newer neighborhoods of Lisbon. Unless you want to go to the Aquarium, the blue route didn't seem worthwhile. The red route goes by a lot of the sights in the sightseeing book - monument to the explorers etc. However there is a lot of time there is no commentary and the same Portuguese song is played over and over and over again! Neither route gets close to the cathedral or castle, so if you are interested in those sights, you will still have some uphill walking to do.

Lisbon Airport Private Arrival Transfer

My Review: When I called to confirm the transfer, I told them I didn't plan on bringing my daughters infant car seat and could they please provide one. I was told No problem, we have it noted. However, when they showed up at the airport, they had no car seat for my daughter. The company was promptly waiting for us when at the airport and were easy to find, however I felt the company was a little flaky or disorganized.

Brussels Chocolate Walking Tour and Workshop

My Review: Enjoyed the tour, although there were not as many samples as I had hoped. I had already tasted Godiva chocolate in Brussels and one of the other places we went - Chocopolis, already gives out a free sample to anyone who walks into their shop, so I had already tried that chocolate as well. Besides those two, we sampled chocolates at two other places, one of which we were not given a choice of which chocolate to sample. Don't get me wrong, there was plenty of opportunity to eat chocolate when we made our own chocolate, it just would have been nice to sample a wider variety of Belgian chocolate. It was a small group and we were given good information on Brussels as we walked around.

Best of Zurich City Tour with Optional Zoo Visit

My Review: Our guide didn't really seem to care at all. She would say on the right, when really it was on the left and leave out important words when describing buildings etc. I like Zurich, but this tour didn't really show a lot. Better off just walking around and seeing things yourself.

My Review: This is not a live guided tour. The driver plays a prerecorded commentary. So sometimes you are sitting at a light and where a live guide could provide color commentary, we got silence. But handy for getting around Dublin, although sometimes you could walk faster.

London Shared Arrival Transfer: Airport to Hotel

My Review: We had our own minivan for pickup. Had a little trouble figuring out where to meet the driver, but other than that was a great ride to the hotel. We missed our original flight and they were very good about rescheduling the pick-up.
