We were very disappointed upon completing our day on the Rhine River Cruise.
We have done tours with Viator previously and they were fantastic, although to be fair some were for smaller numbers and cost more.
Our guide was pleasant and informative with a great sense of humour.
The scenery throughout the tour was definitely worth seeing.
The lunch meal was fine and any drinks were extra. You are herded into the restaurant and seated as quickly as possible. Everything is done to a tight schedule. The eating and drinking, the paying and tipping, and even toileting.
We enjoyed our time on the Rhine. Lots of castles, colourful and some fresh air.
We were very disappointed when we were headed back to the same restaurant for the wine tasting. It was disgusting. You barely got enough wine to taste, varieties served in thimble sized plastic cups. 3 white and only 1 red. The red was a Shiraz and very young. The whites were very sweet. The spokesperson obviously had to cover so much in so little time and it came across as a total sales pitch without drawing breath.
With all the vineyards in the area surely there was a better venue to be had. This really put us off the whole day. It was cheap and nasty.
Another one stop for a quick coffee or souvenirs before we headed back on the bus.
Then we had to listen to another sales pitch by the tour guide on all other possible viator tours in the area.
We will probably not do this sort of tour again and it is definitely worth paying the extra and going in a smaller group.
