Okay, we got to see Mt Fuji from level 4. But that's about that. Didn't enjoy this tour because of the guide's incessant nagging and obvious clock watching. This is unusual for a country like Japan where customer service is usually exemplary and for any agency with Viator. I have used Viator for London, Seoul and Taipei and this is the most lackluster I've ever tried.
It was easy confirming the tour and standard of English for agency staff and guide was good. Meeting place was central and easy to find. We managed to take the cruise on Lake Ashi and the ropeway.
What made the tour not so good was the incessant nagging by the guide about this group of people who were 15 min late. There was just too many constant reminders not to be late and the most boring droning throughout the entire bus journey. No one was listening because it was just too much. I felt like an errant primary school child!
I would have enjoyed this more if it wasn't so crowded with rude noisy visitors who openly smoked and crossed warning lines to take photos. The sea and the lovely structures were obscured by the stream of visitors and I just wished for the visit to end.
Taroko Gorge was lovely and the guide was fabulous. This was definitely worth a visit. The hotel pickup was at the crack of dawn - 6am and we got to the airport in time for a short flight to Hualien. The walk and tour around Taroko Gorge was much improved by the great commentary by our guide and she took us around to some less populated areas. She is also flexible and adjusted the tour well around what the three of us wanted or needed. Highly recommended!
