Private Tour: Marseille and Cassis Day Trip

Marseille, France

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

This tour was absolutely fastastic! We were picked up at our hotel by our lovely guide Vanessa around 9 am. It was a private tour so my family and I were the only ones on the tour...It was perfect! We started off the day going to St. Nicholas Abbey and to the oldest bakery in Marseille. Then, our guide took to us to tthe Basilica of Notre-Dame of the Garde on top of the hill with spectacular view of all of Marseille and the nearby islands of Frioul and Chateau d'If. Then, we were off for a ride along the Corniche...Sea-side road on Marseille with beautiful ocean views as we made out way to Cassis. We made our way to Cap Canaille...The highest sea-side cliffs in Europe for amazing views. It was incredible! Then, off to Cassis, where we had roughly two and a half hours...We had an incredible lunch by the port and then hopped on a boat for a tour of the calanques. We did the 45 minute tour and visited 3of them...The calanques were one of the most beautful things I've ever seen...Don't skip this part. Then back to Marseille around 4 pm to enjoy the rest of the afternoon, sunset drinks and dinner. It was one of my favorite tours I've ever done! The only I wish for was more time...Cassis is an incredible place that merits more than 2 hours...But, if you want to see and do a lot with the comfort of a private tour, this is the way to go. Recommend it 100%!!

Fátima, Nazaré and Óbidos Small-Group Day Trip from Lisbon

Lisbon, Portugal

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

This is a great tour to do and see a lot. You'll start off your day at Fatima, where you'll have some free time to walk around, visit the sanctuary and do a little shopping. Then, you will visit the monastery of Batalha, which is very impressive. It's huge! Beautiful place. There's not much else to see on that stop, so just some free time to visit the site. Then, on to Nazare for lunch...A small, ocean front fishing village. I had a delicious seafood lunch in front of the ocean. By far, the best pasrt of the day is Obidos! Beautiful, small, medieval town...These are the towns you visit Europe for! Only wish I'd had more time here. One hour is no enough. Out guide was too quite and did not give us much information. I don't feel like a learned a lot about the sites and he was always late to our meeting points, but that's an issue with the company and guide. The sites are awesome! Highly recommend this tour!

Loved this tour!!! You;ll start off the day by visiting a magical, medieval castle perches on a small island in the river. You don't actually go inside the castle, but you take a small bout ride all around it. Then, you're off to Constancia. This is actually a very small stop. Not much to do there. Then, Tomar to visit the Templar castle and monastery. Hige complex. Get ready to walk. It's very worth the trip!

Douro Valley Small-Group Tour with Wine Tasting, Portuguese Lunch and Optional River Cruise

Porto, Portugal

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

If you are in Porto, you must take this tour! Highlight of outrtrip! It was always a dream of mine to go on this tour and now that I did, I know why...It's awesome! We were picked up at our hotel by our very funny, entertaining anf energenic guide, Pedro from Cool Tours. It was small tour (just 6 of us). Very fun group! We headed off to the valley and river. First stop was traditional olive oil factory where we tried the most delicious olive oil, honey and Douro wine, which is amazing! If you're not a fan of Portuguese wines, by the end of your first day in Portugal you will be! We met a multigenerational family that have been making wines and olive oil for 6 generations. Our tour of the facility was provided by their 2 youngest members...Two adorable boys (about 12 and 8). They told us everything about their family, and were the most gracious hosts! We also took an hour cruise down the river. Our tour mentioned that in summer time, sometimes you can take a splash in the river if you go prepared. We went in winter but it still glorious! Then, we were off to lunch...It was a feast! We went to a local restaurant and ate the local delicacies. It was so much food and wine we could no keep up. We fnished our day at another village where we went to a wine-makers home, sat down in his living room and tried all his wines. This tour was fantastic! I loved every minute of it!

Aveiro Tour from Porto Including Moliceiro Cruise

Porto, Portugal

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

I loved this tour! This beautiful and charming place is just about an hour from Porto! You'll start the day at Costa Nova with charming houses that are painted with colorful stripes like candy canes. You'll have about half an hour to explore and then head off to Aveiro. It's so pretty! The ride on the canal on the moliceiro is awesome! Plus, there's lots to do here in this little town. The only suggestion I have is that this should be a full day tour because there's too much to do in Aveiro for just 2 hours. Next time I visit this town, I'll go on my own on the train to have more free time. But, for a first time experience, I loved the tour. Our guide was very nice and dropped us off on the other side of the river, in Gaia, overlooking the river. We spent the rest of the day exploring the neighborhhod. I was hesitant to try this tour because it had no reviews. I went for it and loved it! If the tour company is reading this review, please think about making the tour a little longer..More time in Aveiro would have made this tour perfect!

Panoramic Porto Tour

My Review

We recently did this tour in March 2014. We were picked up promptly at our hotel by our wonderful guide Claudia from Living Tours in Porto. It was raining, but she still made out tour fantastic. We started off in the government square with the city hall, then off to the Sao Bento train station to see all the beautiful azulejos. Then, we visited the cathedral with great views of the city from the top. Finally, we made our way to Vila Nova de Gaia, across the river, to visit the Graham's cellars. This was the best part of the tour in my opinion. We had a guided tour and learned about port wine, and then off to their beautiful tasting room to try 3 different kinds of ports. Their tasting room is gorgeous with views of the Douro river and Porto. Awesome tour! We flew into Porto at 9 am, out tour was at 2 pm, and by the end of our first day we were already acquainted with the city. We topped off our night with an amazing dinner at the Encondidinho restuarant and it was the perfect first day in Porto! Thank you Claudia for your time and attention! Loved it!

Eiffel Tower, Paris Moulin Rouge Show and Seine River Cruise

Paris, France

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

This tour is pricey but absolutely worth it and better than expected! I loved this entire evening. Our group departed on time and we were taken to La Marina de Paris. This is a beautiful glass-covered boat anchored in front of the Musee d'Orsay. We boarded and enjoyed a cruise down the Seine river while having dinner. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meals. Everything was delicious. Then, we were taken to the Eiffel tower all the way up to the 2nd level. You have about an hour there and we opted to pay an extra $6 and go all the way to the top. It was gorgeous. This was followed by our visit to the Moulin Rouge. This was the best part of our evening. The show is amazing!!! Non-stop entertainment and beautiful cabaret. Amazing night!

Small-Group Wine-Tasting Trip to the Champagne Region from Paris

Paris, France

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

I loved our day in the Champagne region! We were promptly picked up at our hotel and headed to the town of Eparney. There were visited the Moet and Chandon wineries. The place is beautiful and you get to enjoy a walk in their large cellars and champagne tasting. There is so much history there! Then, we visited the town of Cramant, considered a grand cru town in this region and we visited the Lancelot-Pienne vineyard. It was a small, family owned facility. We were served lunch by our very attentive guide, Guiomme, in a beautiful room overlooking the vineyards. Lunch consisted of fresh and delicate fish, rice and a delicious strawberry tart, all accompanied by delicious champagne. We had time to stroll the vineyards and then we were off to our last stop at the MontMarthe vineyards. At this facility, we learned all about the new techniques for making champagne. Overall, a great day! We learned so much about the champagne making process, enjoyed beautiful weather and vineyards. Our guide was lovely and attentive. Highly recommend!

This is an action packed tour...Like a sampler of the city. The visit to the Louvre is very fast-paced and feels rushed. The Louvre is extremely full. I had been to the Louvre once before so I felt very rushed. Then we went to the Eiffel tower and had lunch at the restaurant. It was included on the tour. The lunch was delicious! We had plenty of time for pictures. Then, a river cruise took us Notre Dame where were had a short visit and then the tour finished there. Overall, a good overview of the city's most popular places and a good way to skip the long lines. Lunch was yummy!

My Review

Now declared one the new 7 wonders of the world! You need to see this place. Great adventure. Prepare for a long day and expect a lot of HEAT! Take a hat (or you'll end up buying one there), sunscreen and a change of clothes. You'll end your day swimming in a cenote and it's wonderfully refreshing after a long day. The only thing I'd change is how much they push you to buy things at the Mayan village (too $$). You'll find similar items at Chichen Itza for less money.

This place is beautiful!! It's a little pricey but it's all inclusive. The water is gorgeous! You'll start your day very early and take a fligt to Kaysiri, followed by a drive to Urgup. There you'll meet your guide and head out for a day filled with wonderful places. Lunch was delicious. Our guide was wonderful. Would do it again despite it being a very long day. This is a once-in-a-lifetime place. If you have more than 1 day, then stay overnight, enjoy a rock hotel and some local cuisine...Maybe a flight in a hot air-balloon. But if all you have is one day, then go for it!!

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

Troy is a fascinating place, especially if you love history. You will be walking in the midst of 5 thousand years of history. However, the place is still underdeveloped for tourism and the drive is extremely long. 4 hours each way. If this tour was combined with something else, it might be worth the drive, but in my opinion, the drive was too long.

My Rating
1 star rating: I do not recommend this

My Review

I do not recommend this tour...Our guide picked us up and took us to the subway. Then, we boarded the ferry to Liberty Island and we were on our own from then on. He did not stay with us, nor did he explain anything about where we were. His only involvement in the tour was to get us on the ferry and drop us off. It would have been nice to have some sort of explanation about the history of the status and Ellis island. There are tours available on Ellis island, but you can do those on your own. Overall, I think this tour was a waste of money and I could have do it on my own. I guess skipping the line is a good thing, but there was no line to skip...Maybe in summer time, when it is more busy, it might be worth it just to avoid waiting in line. Ohterwise, skip this tour, save money, do it on your own...

My Review
Cordoba is a spectacular place!. We took our tour on Dec 23rd, 2010. It was just my family and another couple in a cozy van. The tour of the Mezquita was awesome! The guide was very informative. She also took us to the Alcazar, Jewish synagogue, medina and jewish quarters. The only thing that would make this tour better is more time in Cordoba to wander in the maze of streets. Highly recommend tis tour.
