It was wonderful! Your tour through the blue-green waters of its canals (yes, like Venice but wide) with skyscrapers soaring up all around us was nothing short of magnificent.

I think that one day of Hop on Hop off is sufficient to get an overview of the city and visit a few of the 'hot spots'. Otherwise on other days I recommend the metro/subway. Above ground travel is VERY slow because the traffic is pazzesco!...crazy! The metro whips you all over in no time at all.

I booked this tour since I was told that the Borghese Gardens are magnificent but the night before my tour, there was a huge flood in Rome and the metro was closed. The city came to a standstill for the most part. I called Viator to cancel and they allowed me to book another tour next year when I will most certainly travel to Europe again. I am impressed with Viator's customer service.

Our guide was excellent and knowledgeable. I asked her additional questions about the architecture of St Mark's Basilica and she was happy to oblige. Even in early October the streets were insanely crowded but she managed to keep us together and speak loud enough for us all to hear. We were maybe 20 people. I was concerned that the tour would be long and boring with emphasis on dates and historical information but the guide made it relevant with interesting anecdotes.
