Yosemite National Park and Giant Sequoias Trip

San Francisco, California

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

We took this tour to Yosemite park to see the giant Sequoias trees, some over one thousand years old. It was hot there as once your outside of San Francisco the weather is much warmer. We travelled by tour bus up a steep, long winding road. There were no guard rails on these roads and if so, in very few places. We seen what is called Bridal falls because when the wind blows the water moves like a bride's veil. The one thing we did not like was the tour guide was on his cell phone and not watching the road which was really scary considering there were no rails and it was quite steep. My husband did not like him always saying he is on schedule or trying to make up time and then later saying oh we have time to stop to take a picture which was probably on the itinerary anyway. When you do reach the top you can see mountain climbers if you have binoculars. The bathrooms are a path to an old fashion shack with a moon on the front - get the picture- and a line up as well. Bring water if your going on this tour, a lunch or snack and a sun hat and sun screen.

Monterey, Carmel and 17-Mile Drive Day Trip from San Francisco

San Francisco, California

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

We loved Monterey with its beaches and wharf and an aquarium. The Aquarium had penguins which my daughter loves, puffins, jellyfish, sea otters, eels and much more. We would have liked more time in Monterey. John Steinback the author lived there and has a street named "Cannery Row," after a book he wrote. We read some of his books. ON the 17 mile drive we seen beautiful scenery, beaches, pacific ocean, famous houses and the famous Peddle beach golf course with very expensive fees ( for the rich and famous I am sure) Carmel they took us for an hour to shop for designer clothing which we were not impressed with and would have liked to stay in Monterey longer. Clint Eastwood has a house there but no one can see it from the road. He is no longer the major of Carmel. We seen sea lions along the coast of Monterey. G;ad we took the tour.

Rock 'n' Roll Combo: Alcatraz and Magic Bus San Francisco Tour

San Francisco, California

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

We chose the rock and roll combo because it was the only tour that also featured an afternoon of going to Alcatraz and the walking tour. Not much fun to just be on a boat going past Alcatraz if it is something you really want to see. Our daughter was very interested in the 60's and the Beatnik generation because she was born in 1988. Since she is interested in music she did recognize the music of John Lennon. I read where some did not want to take children, and I can see it would not be interesting for small children and the reference to the LSD etc was a fact in that era so passing out candy as LSD did not bother us. We did see so many sights on this trip as they drove through Chinatown, Haight-Ashbury. We seen a man in a pink corset, some in leather, apparently every last Friday of the month or on special occasions they have a nude walk over the bridge. The tour guide was friendly and nice and we enjoyed the magic.

San Francisco Bridge to Bridge Cruise

San Francisco, California

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

The bridge to bridge tour was nice as we got to sit and not walk around and we took pictures of The Bay bridge and the Golden Gate bridge. We went to pier 43 for souvenirs and fish and chips downstairs for lunch but went to the Butterfly restaurant for supper and tried Vietnamese food.

Chippendales at the Rio Suite Hotel and Casino

Las Vegas, Nevada

My Rating
2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

My Review
This was nice, and the dancers were good, but we did not like the way they took women on stage and then groped them, felt them up. We thought it was inappropriate.
