2-Day Loch Ness and Inverness Small Group Tour from Edinburgh
Tour / Activity
Location: Edinburgh, United Kingdom
My Review: This was one of the best tours I've been on in terms of the knowledge, cheerfulness and fabulous good humour of our tour guide (who also doubled as our driver)...and I've been on lots! Despite typical cold and wet weather in the highlands, we managed to see everything, had all our questions answered about absolutely any topic and had great recommendations for local food and entertainment possibilities during our night over in Inverness. Way to go Audrey--you are one amazing tour guide! The scenery was spectacular and history abounds. This is definitely the way to see the countryside beyond Edinburgh for those who have limited time.

The Royal Yacht Britannia
Tour / Activity
Location: Edinburgh, United Kingdom
My Review: Well worth seeing the yacht and the self-guided tour is very well done. This is one very high class boat but not every room is "over-the-top-opulent"! Very very interesting...a must do while you're in Edinburgh. If we'd had more time, we would have liked to try the tea-room but we didn't time it right for the rest of our day.

Edinburgh City Hop-on Hop-off Tour
Tour / Activity
Location: Edinburgh, United Kingdom
My Review: We've done lots of hop-on hop-off tours and this one was definitely the worst of the lot. Information was very meager despite the vast history of Edinburgh. Earphones would fade in and out due to bad connections. Numbered stops didn't seem to matter to the driver--in fact one driver said they don't really follow them. I'd recommend doing the other company for the city tour--they had a live guide and folks on their bus seemed to be having a great time.

Keukenhof Gardens and Tulip Fields Tour from Amsterdam
Tour / Activity
Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands
My Review: Fabulous! Fabulous! Fabulous! Words cannot describe the colours, the scenery, the lush gardens and the acres and acres of bulb gardens all at their prime. At first, five hours at the Keukenhof Garden seemed like it might be a bit long, but time passes quickly and there are plenty of places to sit, rest, drink, snack and people-watch along the way. This is a must for anyone in the Netherlands in April.

Murano, Burano and Torcello Half-Day Sightseeing Tour
Tour / Activity
Location: Venice, Italy
My Review: Nice to get out of the crowds and concrete of Venice to some really intriguing places. I can't imagine doing these in the summer season with 10x more tourists but for us, in April, it was lovely. Burano was very intriguing as a town but the lace part was quite disappointing. Glass factory was really interesting, and we loved the chance to stroll in the greenery of Torcello. The tour guide on the boat was extremely hard to understand and trying to communicate in four languages without a pause in between so we often missed what she said, still thinking she was speaking someone else's language.

Venice Gondola Ride and Serenade
Tour / Activity
Location: Venice, Italy
My Review: Great fun and a real opportunity to ride through the narrower canals of Venice to see houses and lifestyle from the water level, not just from all the bridges! The music was "touristy Italian" and was a nice touch! Gondoliers were friendly although never really interacted with passengers.

Skip the Line: Venice in One Day
Tour / Activity
Location: Venice, Italy
My Review: Great guide, full of information and recommendations. Content of the tour was excellent and kept to good amounts of pertinent info.

Skip the Line: Ancient Rome and Colosseum Half-Day Walking Tour
Tour / Activity
Location: Rome, Italy
My Review: The guide admirably tried to do the narration of the tour in three languages consecutively and hence, there was little information provided about any of the sites other than a label and one sentence as we drove slowly by. When we got to Trevi fountain, again no history or facts, even though we had a stopover there.

Skip the Line: Crypts and Roman Catacombs Small Group Walking Tour
Tour / Activity
Location: Rome, Italy
My Review: This tour has to be one of the strangest, eery and awesome tours that we've ever done but truly worth doing...held the interest of an "older mom" and a 24 year old daughter. We even took "dad" back to the crypt the next day because we were so impressed.

Skip the Line: Vatican Museums Walking Tour including Sistine Chapel, Raphael's Rooms and St Peter's
Tour / Activity
Location: Rome, Italy
My Review: Simona, our tour guide, has to be one of the absolute best tour guides we've ever had. There's a lot of walking to this tour but she did warn us all in a fun way and off we went. She made us think, pointed out fabulous art and artifacts, plus lots of history that pulled everything together with a good pace for input.

Rome by Night Tour
Tour / Activity
Location: Rome, Italy
My Review: We were so disappointed with the lack of content in this tour and the less than personable style of the driver and guide...such a disappointment after at least 15 really good tours through Viator over the past 3 years. The poor guide was trying to speak three languages and therefore couldn't really talk about anything in any detail, just doing "drive-by tourism", labelling each building. Such a shame in what should have been an absoloutely spectacular tour.
