The day trip was long, but really good. The driver and guide were very relaxed and provided good commentary on the way to both cities (and lots of quiet on the way back!). The experience in the cities was self-guided, for the most part, but that was a great part of the appeal. Had mussels in Brussels and waffles from Belgium -- how much better does it get?

Skip the Line: Paris Louvre Museum Guided Tour

The tour was great, and the tour guide very relaxed and experienced in showing you around the Louvre. Here's a uniquely French anecdote about the tour place, Cityrama/ParisVision. The voucher said to show-up at 1:15pm - we were there early. When the tour guide wasn't there at 1:25pm, the woman at the Cityrama said "The tour doesn't leave until 2:00pm" I said "No, 1:15pm" and she said "You are wrong." When I showed her the voucher where it clearly said 1:15pm, she took it from me, scratched out the time, and said "No, you are wrong, it leaves at 2:00pm" Arrogance or incompetence -- there is apparently a thin line between the two!

For a Paris review, it was what we expected. A bit over the top and schmaltzy, but certainly entertaining. The food is substandard, and the mark-up for additional alcohol is prohibitive, but the show is a sight to see.
