Tour/Activity

Taxco and Cuernavaca from Mexico City

Mexico City, Mexico

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

Again, our tour guide was late, but not as late as before. It was Javier. He took us to Cuernavaca and then Taxco. They are both beautiful towns. We had lunch at a restaurant in Taxco. Expect to pay around $15 per person for a meal. Also, they include gratuity if you sit in a large group. We had a very interesting group. It was a fun experience, but I did make evening plans that we missed (purchased tickets to the opera for two) because we were grossly late. We got back to the hotel after 9pm. Always expect delays in this city. And, don't make any evening plans before hand. Worth the trip though!

Xochimilco and National University of Mexico

Mexico City, Mexico

My Rating
2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

My Review

We started this tour with a stop at a Church for 15 minutes and then drove to Frida Kahlo's house/museum. When we arrived, it had a sign that it was closed. We took pictures outside the museum.

We drove by Mexico's univertity stadium on our way to Xochimilco.

We continued to Xochimilco where ladies were given a rose before getting on a beautiful, colorful canoe. We each paid for a lunch served on the canoe. That was the best part of this entire tour. He allowed no time for shopping even though our tour guide "Eduardo" was ahead of schedule...done by 2pm.

We could have gone to Xochimilco on our own and saved ourselves the money.

Teotihuacan Pyramids and Shrine of Guadalupe

Mexico City, Mexico

My Rating

My Review

Our tour guide Javier was 35 minutes late picking us up. After explaining why he was late, he asked if it was okay to grab a cup of coffee (hadn't had breakfast) from our hotel's coffee shop--took 10 additional minutes. When we walked out to the vehicle, there were other tourists waiting.

Our tour guide returned to his vehicle once we all entered the area of the pyramids; we were all on our own from there until we returned. It was nice in a way, but we missed a "chamber" we could have seen.

The sampling of the three types of tequila was nice.

The "lunch" tasted alright and did not include a drink. It's not what I expected as shown in some of the pictures. A packed sandwich would have tasted better.

We could have spent more time at the Shrine of Guadalupe so we walk up the hill and through all the churches there. We made plans to return since this was a quick "walk" through.

Overall, it was a good experience. Javier is a charasmatic and funny individual. I enjoyed having a tour guide, but if you book with this company expect delays, excuses and some unorganization. But, DON'T make evening plans! During one tour (Cuernavaca, we did not arrive back until after 9pm and we had tickets to the opera at the Palace of Fine Arts!)
