Really enjoyed this tour. Salzburg is quite a long drive from Vienna, but we got adequte breaks, one at the Austrian lake district , which was a bonus. In Salzburg, our guide Tomas, did a guided tour for about 1.5 hrs and then gave us about 2 hrs to visit on our own. We used the time to visit Mozart's house and roam around the old town as well as grab some lunch. There's lots to do in Salzburg based on your interests and you could easily stay here a few days, but if you want a decent taster this is a great option as a 1 day tour.
Really good tour! Greg our guide was absolutely brilliant. He managed a rather large group through public transport quite well. Dachau memorial is quite large...esp the exhibition...you could spend a full day if not days here. Being interested in WW2 history, we werent sure whether to take this tour, or go ourselves. You could easily go yourselves as its easy to get to from Munich (10 min train + 10 min bus ride). But we did enjoy taking the guided tour as Greg, explained everything really well...showed us the main buildings, gave us time to see things ourselves, and really built up the story of what happened there. In retrospect, I am glad we didnt go ourselves, as we would have probably gotten lost in the huge museum...and spent the whole day in the first room and then hurried through the rest at closing time. This way, we saw everything properly at a good pace!
Good tour and Steve our guide was quite informative. He built the story of how when Hitler arrived in Munich, he slowly built up to be the man he eventually became. We saw the various buildings associated with his activities. The weather was a dampener...as it started raining mid way...very inconvenient for a walking tour...and everyone's attention got diverted, and became hard to follow the commentary. This tour should probably be only done in small groups...as the larger group made it harder in the rain. But good tour overall.
Absolutely amazing tour, Shaadi, our driver was a delight, he took care of all our needs and helped customise the tour even further when we were there, and gave us good impartial advice on things. Only complaint is about the Amman hotel. The hotel gave us a very low quality room the first night...not even 2 star! But on our second night, they gave us a better room. Though we wouldnt rate the hotel as 4 star anyway, it was a 3 star hotel at best. The Petra hotel was much better and we enjoyed staying there. Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea visits were incredible, though the more interested tourists may want a longer visit to petra...we certainly wished we had 2 days to see it fully. We added the Jerash half day tour on our 4th day, and its well worth a visit, one of the best preserved roman ruins anywhere in the world. We added short visist to little petra and mount nebu as well once there. They can be passed over if you are short of time, but do ask your driver to point out the 'promised land, enroute to the dead sea!
In terms of the country, we found the changing landscapes fascinating, the locals friendly, and the food delicious...do try the local stuff.
Overall, excellent holiday and well organised, hassle free tour, will strongly recommend.
