I really enjoyed this tour. It was not too large a group, and the ride was comfortable and well-planned. I was picked up at my hotel within :15 of the time I was told, and then gathered with the larger group at the tour location. There were 8 of us for dinner after the tour, and I enjoyed the company of others since I was solo on this tour. The only downside was that the tour was in 3 languages. I don't mind at all that a multi-lingual crowd participated in the tour, and actually, enjoyed that quite a bit. What is limiting, though, is the information you receive from the tour guide. Because the tour is in 3 languages and the guide has to say everything 3 times, I do think the information shared about each destination is reduced. You are driving by the statue, for example, and whatever is significant has to be communicated 3 times before getting to the next statue, so the guide has to be quick. All said in done, it was still very enjoyable. I noticed the difference when we broke into the small dinner group, as everyone spoke the same language. There was more conversation with the guide, questions could be asked and answered, and the level of detail was increased. Just something to know as you embark on this tour. Great way to begin your vacation, or to end it after becoming familiar with the city. I have been to Rome many times and had seen all the spots we visited, but I still enjoyed learning a few new things, and just having the experience of being on a guided tour.
Had a great time on this tour. Oliver was a wonderful guide who really knew the area, the history of this period and described a lot of things about Barcelona I would not have otherwise noticed. I was on my own, and found it to be a great tour to do solo. It is wonderful to learn about a city from a true local, someone who grew up there and has a genuine perspective. This was my experience with Oliver, our guide, and it was really appreciated. Also, the little headset you wear really makes the tour just wonderful Not a word is missed - I can't imagine how tours were accomplished prior to this technology.
London, United Kingdom
The Tower of London is absolutely wonderful and a necessary day in London. We were there for 3 hours easily, and the Beefeater tour is a must! In the summertime when tourism is at a peak, I would highly recommend advance tickets and skipping the line; it would not be any fun to wait in long lines for the Tower. On the particular day we went, there was not a line, so we really didn't need to purchase in advance. But I'm glad we did. It helped us to map out our trip and commit to certain things on certain days.
