What a well organised tour! We booked the VIP self escorted tour. You had your own ipad and could take as long as you liked wandering the house, car museum and planes. A shuttle bus takes you to the house and you don't wait in line. Last week on Elvis' birthday apparently it was bedlam.
New York City, New York
Took my daughter-in-law and her friend. We all enjoyed ourselves. Lou our guide gave us cupcakes on the bus Carrie's favourite bakery and we had cosmos at Aidan and Steve's bar. Budaakan the restaurant used for the rehearsal dinner allowed us to walk through (good advertising!) so we came back for dinner with friends and were seated downstairs under the chandeliers. Nice food. We purchased the VIP tickets to sit up the front of the bus which was great. Also there were quite a few guys on the tour!
Absolutely fabulous! You cannot imagine the beauty of the two castles until you are actually standing inside them. It was a long way to the top to enter Castle Neuschwanstein but taking the horse and cart made it easier. Going down by foot is a must. I was sorry I didn't go to Mary's Bridge where the postcard shots are taken because you are able to see the castle clearly. Some people on our tour did not go inside both castles. They missed out. Do both castles. We did not spend enough time in Oberammerga where the Passion Play is staged every 10 years. Lunch at the hotel in Hohenschwangau was lovely. A very big day but well worth it!
We liked the tour very much but the bus we travelled in was small and stuffy. Every seat was taken and we were squashed in the corner of the back seat.
The best experience was the cable car ride down to where we had lunch and then caught the ferry. The scenery was beautiful.
I recommend it!
Magnificant! A must! We had a perfect view of the nest then all of a sudden their was nothing but a white out and the rain started. We were lucky to get in a few photos. The lift was incredible.
We used this tour as our transport from Salzburg to Vienna and did not return to Salzburg. The driver locked our luggage under the bus. This way we did not waste a day in travelling. We stopped for morning tea at an amazing eatery. We continued through the Austrian Alps and onto the lakes. Salzburg was amazing with the tour through the Old Town. We used this as our orientation for the two night syay we planned. The Sound of music tour is a must!
