Skip the Line: London Dungeon

My Review

This was really a lot of fun! There was not much of a line the morning we went but by the time we came out around noon there were long lines waiting, so get there early and you should walk right in. It was not very scary, we had a 10 yr old and 13 yr old, neither were scared through the whole thing. We loved the way they brought history to life and the actors were gifted and funny, there was a lot of interaction with the 'audience' and all was in good fun and they did a great job. If you've been to Disney World you'll be disappointed in the 'rides' if you expect them to be of that quality, they are not, and you will get mildly wet on the first one but not soaking. I had a windbreaker I put over my head and didn't get very wet at all. Be aware that this attraction has moved recently, we took 2 taxis from our hotel and the first taxi took us directly to the new location by the London Eye, the 2nd taxi took them to the old location and we ended up waiting about 30 min for them to get another taxi (and fare) to bring them to the new location. You can look up their website to get exact details thedungeons.com. There is one part with the judge that has R rated jokes, so you might want to put your hands over your kid's ears during this part , it was quite embarrassing for me! Other than that we all loved The Dungeon!!

Medieval Banquet and Merriment by Torchlight in London

My Review

This was SO MUCH FUN! We had 7 people, 2-50 yr olds, 2-30 yr olds, 18,13 and 10! Everyone loved it! We got there just a tad late and a 'wench' greeted us at the door and knew who we were and told us to 'hurry and come in, we were waiting for you!' Extremely friendly staff led us to our table, nothing had started yet so we were just in time. They serve pitchers of red wine and beer (but you can order and pay for other drinks at the bar) and water and apple juice for the kids. The soup is delicious, a hit with everyone, so fill your bowls up before they take the pot away, this will probably be the only thing the kids will eat, it's great with the bread, the cold meats are good for adults, the chicken was too dry but the roast vegetables are good and the apple pie for dessert is very good but we were too full to eat it, we asked our wench for coffee and she acted shocked and good-naturedly told us to just drink the beer and wine, so there is no coffee there! The entertainment is SO much better than I thought it would be, beautiful, professional voices singing period songs in latin, the changing seasons costumes were gorgeous as was the other entertainment, it moves down the room so everyone gets a close up view. Knights visit the tables to get cheering support and the fighting scenes were technical and professionally done. I enjoyed this SO much more than Medieval Times in Orlando! It is much more elegant but equally exciting! We did this our last night in London as a farewell dinner and I'm so glad we did, it was fantastic, you will love it! At 10 pm the medieval entertainment stops and it immediately turns to disco, I thought there might be some sort of announcement or something but there's not, so the disco music starts and my 10 yr old grandson jumps up and starts dancing with King Henry VIII and the others, it was hysterical! We didn't stay much longer because of early flights the next morning, but it was very family friendly and fun!

We got there too late for the last tour which was at 12:30, the staff there were very apologetic and so sweet, and wanted to change our tickets (at no charge) to the next day so we could come back for a tour, unfortunately this was our last day in London. We did go into the exhibition area and it was fascinating, lots to read and see, costumes, all the history and models of the theatre. We did have tickets for the 2:00 showing of Macbeth, it was AMAZING! The actors are incredible and the overall performance was exceptional! All 7 of us from 10 yrs old to 52 absolutely were thrilled with the experience! It was the most exciting thing we did in London, get tickets to see a performance here if at all possible!

This was GREAT!! When we arrived there was a 3 hour wait time but since we had skip the line tickets we only had about a 20 minute wait, enough time to visit the gift shop and buy T-shirts. The food was very good, we had a group of 7 and everyone found something they liked on the menu, the burgers were cooked perfectly medium rare, the service was awesome, we were able to order drinks other than what is included on the set menu and got a check for just the extra drinks we ordered, however, be sure to tip on the entire cost of this meal, the servers do a fantastic job and they deserve to be tipped accordingly.

Luxury Paris Day Trip with Champagne Lunch on the Eiffel Tower

London, United Kingdom

My Review

I'm really glad we took this tour, we planned to get breakfast on the train, the line in that car was VERY long and took 45 minutes to get a sandwich, all the breakfast items were gone, so bring breakfast/snacks with you or get something at the station before you leave.Read up on St. Pancras station, it's GORGEOUS!The train ride was delightful, the scenery exquisite, we kept trying to wake up the kids to see it! The guide will find you on the train and tell you about what will be happening during the tour, before that you are on your own but it's not difficult to find the check in point, if you have a problem just ask people, they are friendly and willing to help. The Paris station was a stark contrast to Pancras, surprisingly dirty. You go directly to the boat for the cruise, there's no good opportunity to buy drinks so bring bottles of water with you, you will be hot and thirsty by now(caffeine pills are a good idea too)The cruise is absolutely beautiful, photo ops galore! A little difficult to hear the commentary through the hand held speaker so we put our best hearing person on that duty and they relayed the info to us. You can sit on either side because it turns around, sit on the outside tho for good pics.We did not have to wait long to go up the Eiffel, skipped the long lines, there was a lot of loud construction going on so it was not peaceful as I had imagined, the restaurant was very busy, congested and hurried, if you are thinking white tablecloth, candlelight, flowers, this is not it, the lunch came in tupperware like dishes and you have to ask for bread, served in brown paper bags, but it WAS delicious! You can order either the appetizer OR dessert, not both.Eat fast and you'll have more time to walk up to the upper level and enjoy the views. The Louvre is crowded and hot(we went on Mon it's closed on Tues)the Mona Lisa was a mob scene, everyone pushing on each other. Our guide was LOVELY on optional tour but we left early,Cold drinks at Starbucks saved us.

If you are going here during the summer these skip the line tickets are the only way to do it, and even then you need to get there at opening time. We arrived about 9:30 AM and there was already a short line for priority entrance, when we came out, the lines were, oh my goodness, so so long, I've never seen lines that long for an attraction like this, it was staggering, they went on and on forever, the lines were so long, people had set up little puppet shows to entertain the people waiting in line! Inside, it is very crowded but we still had a lot of fun with it. The 4D Marvel show was great and my 10 yr old grandson thought it was the best thing ever! We have never been to a wax museum before so this was really fun, new and exciting!

London Eye: Champagne Experience

My Review

This was a beautiful experience! The check in desk is a little bit hard to find, if you are in the plaza in front of the London Eye looking at it, go into the building on your left, you'll see the entrance, after you go in the door go to your right and go all the way down to a desk directly in front of you, and your check in desk will be on your left, right in front of the cafe chairs. They will ask you to meet back in that area 15 minutes before loading time. Your guide will come get you and take you to get on, very easy and quick. Definitely go see the 4D experience film, it is really cool! We got there 30 minutes before our ticket time and it was plenty of time to see it, I actually wanted to see it again it was that good. There were 7 in our group and there were just a few other people in our capsule along with our guide who was great, he poured and served the adults champagne and offered our 10 and 13 yr olds juice or water. He took group pictures for us and answered questions, very sweet guy. The whole experience was extremely gorgeous!! After the loud traffic and heavy tourist crowds you will love this very quiet, cool and relaxing ride! We went at 8 PM, it was perfect! We all loved it!!

My Review

This was interesting, we enjoyed seeing different parts of the city, the guide was very entertaining and told us lots of things we had no idea about regarding Jack the Ripper, we were all pretty shocked and surprised at some of the details. We had 4 adults and 2 children, ages 10 and 13, I think the adults enjoyed it more than the children, they seemed a little bored.

Viator VIP: Exclusive Access to Tower of London and St Paul's Cathedral with Lunch

My Review

WOW! This was AMAZING! We had our own private 'Changing of the Guard'. We didn't want to invest several hours of our vacation time to try and see the one at Buckingham so this worked out perfect! (we didn't know for sure where to meet our guide, the officers directed us to the gate facing the river and the guards there called the Beefeater to take us in even without our guide, she later told us that she meets everyone near the giftshop) It was beautiful and there was just a very small group of us inside the Tower before official opening with our private Beefeater explaining everything that was happening. SO exciting!! (it was chilly so you might want to bring a jacket) Then we had time to tour the Tower, then a walk to St Paul's, this was an exceptional and gorgeous part of the tour, saw so much that others don't get to see, the library was a very special treat. Lunch was very good, even the kids liked it. Had time in the gift shop and then a walk to the Shard which was VERY cool!! There is a LOT of walking but SO worth it. Our guide was OUTSTANDING!! We hated to say goodbye to her! Of all the things and tours we did in London, this was my favorite!

This was fun, seeing London and all the sights from the open top of a double decker bus! It wasn't dark when we went at 8PM so if seeing the lights is important you will need to go much later. Driving over the Tower Bridge was very cool! We did this our first night in London and our group of 7 including kids thought it was a winner!

River Thames High-Speed Cruise

London, United Kingdom

My Rating

My Review

This was SO much fun! We did the 4:30 75 min Thames Flood Barrier trip. It was FANTASTIC! When we passed the slower boats on the river we were so happy we were on a FAST boat! We had 7 in our group including a 10 yr old, 13 yr old and 18 yr old. They LOVED this! I think the slow boat trip would have been boring for them but this was informative as well as exciting. We saw so much and learned so much! Our guide was great, very knowledgeable and funny, we learned about London, the river and its history, how the flood barrier works, the history and details of the bridges, all the buildings along the way, Greenwich, and so much more and in a very entertaining way. Anytime would be a good time to go but it was especially nice going on our first day in London. You will not be disappointed!
