Tour guides are almost as important as tour itineraries, and we were very lucky on this tour to have 'Casey' as guide. His commentary on the three wonderful sites we visited was not just informative but enlivened with a gentle humour and the addition of fascinating snippets of historical and contemporary detail.
The organisation of the tour was efficient, and overall it provided an excellent introduction to Kyoto and its treasures and pleasures.

We were very fortunate to have the same driver who had met us on our arrival at Xi'an. He was a charming man as well as a good driver, and overcame the language barrier to communicate his friendliness and concern for our welfare. He had agreed to an earlier pick-up to make sure we caught our train, and insisted on accompanying us to the station entrance which was rather difficult to find. We were impressed and very grateful for his services.

A great tour of a beautiful city, especially the bus line that included a lovely boat trip. But we didn't get off to a good start as it was apparently unclear from our voucher which ticket we had bought - a day pass or 24hour pass. We were lucky to have a very nice bus driver who sorted things out, otherwise could have been a problem.

Excellent tour, and skip the line ticket greatly appreciated in the high tourist season. Just one suggestion: information and directions re exchanging voucher for tickets should be more detailed. We spent too much time trying to find the nearest place to do this.

Enjoyed this tour - especially since it began right outside our hotel! Good to be able to extend the bus trip by taking a canal boat tour.

This was a great tour with a charming, well-educated guide who spoke almost perfect English. But we were rather surprised to find that the two of us had a personal guided tour when we'd been expecting a 'small group tour'. Definitely not a problem though!

This could have been a total disaster. The directions given for finding the tour bus were so unclear that we spent an unhappy 20 minutes running round a square full of buses trying - and failing - to find ours. It was sheer luck that we eventually found the right one, almost 10 minutes after its scheduled departure. And then we wished we hadn't found it as the guide was an unpleasant woman who seemed to hate her job, and the bus was old and battered.
This was our only disappointment with Viator, and we couldn't possibly recommend this tour to anyone.
