I was disappointed with the Cannes tour as I would have liked driving around and seeing some of the town rather than spending an hour on our own to walk along the beach. However, the architecture that was pointed out was fantastic!
Grasse was extremely disappointing. The perfume making tour was very limited, and focused mainly on our purchasing of limited product. We really didn't get a sense of the town. It wasn't until we started towards Goudon that the scenery and commentary by our tour guide got interesting. The medieval towns were fascinating, and having some time for lunch in the small town of Goudon and time to stroll the streets and visit the art galleries in St. Paul de Vence made the trip worthwhile. Driving through the Loup Gorges (Wolve's canyon) was breathtaking. I would not do this trip again, however. There has to be a better tour of the countryside available!
The 2 and 1/2 hour trip to St. Tropez via the Mediterranean was a wonderful way to gain perspective on the French Riviera, or "Cote d'Azur". St. Tropez is terribly touristy, with long lines for the bathrooms (which you have to pay for) and limited direction or assistance for what and where to go, to eat, and to get to the beach. However, after having read reviews by others before embarking on this trip, it would have probably been much more pleasant if I had read up on this town before embarking. The ferry makes other stops along the way that might be more interesting. But the trip by water was well worth it.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and made us wish we knew more about what we were seeing! We were really impressed with how well organized the tour was, making sure we got a good overall view of what the Vatican houses.
