Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum Half-Day Trip from Krakow

Krakow, Poland

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

I am a history teacher and have wanted to see this site for years. My goal was to take still photos while my friend shot video so that I could create an iMovie for my students. Unfortunately, the tour guide went so fast that I was jogging at several points to keep up with him. There were sooo many tourist groups there in July, that I wish I would have hired a private guide in order to slow down the process. If you are interested in seeing the site quickly during summer, this tour is for you. If you need more time like I did, then hire a private guide. In the guide's defense, he was extremely knowledgeable but spoke so quickly that it was difficult to process all the information. During busy times, I think the museum needs to schedule tour groups so that they are not on top of one another especially at Auschwitz I. Still, glad I did it and managed to get good pictures for my students.

Excellent service. Trust me... you don't want to take just any taxi to your hotel. I tried that twice and was ripped off beyond belief.

Nuremberg Day Trip from Munich

Munich, Germany

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

Amazing tour from Munich via train. I think it is much better than a large bus as you get time on the train to rest or read, whatever you like. The town itself is charming with so much history. The pinnacle of the small group tour was visiting Zeppelin Field-- what a story. The law is Germany is that sites such as Zeppelin cannot be destroyed, but the maintenance is so expensive that no one wants to pay for it. It has really fallen into disrepair. Interesting...

An excellent tour. Definitely do the train instead of a huge bus. The castle itself is amazing, and my tour guide had very interesting stories about the art that was stored there during the war.

All you need is one day in Budapest. This was worth it. The city has some beautiful parts, the parliament building being the ultimate photo.

Wachau Valley Small-Group Tour and Wine Tasting from Vienna

Vienna, Austria

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

This was a highlight of my two-week trip this summer. Stelios, our guide, was probably one of the most amazing, intelligent guides I have ever had on any tour with the accommodating personality to match. The scenic drive to the Wachau was lovely in a small Mercedes van with our group. The wines coming from the Wachau are really crisp and fresh, and the tastings were informative as each winery took its time in explaining its individual process to us. Lunch at a traditional tavern in the countryside was lovely. This is the perfect day trip from Vienna-- a must for all wine lovers!

Czech Beer Tasting in Prague

Prague, Czech Republic

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

One of the best things we did in Prague. We really learned a lot about the history of brewing and the methods used in perfecting each brew. We met a ton of fun people, and the guide was a sommelier from the U.S. He was knowledgeable, witty, and fun. We loved this tour!

Terezin Concentration Camp Day Tour from Prague

My Review

As a teacher, this was a mandatory site on my list. I am glad to have done it although our guide was not as engaging or passionate about the subject like the guide we had at Dachau. She seemed as though she just wanted to go home... sort of a downer when you have traveled thousands of miles to try to really learn something. Guide aside, the tour is worth it for the experience.

Frascati Wine Tasting Tour from Rome

Rome, Italy

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

This tour was an amazing experience, and it is one not to be missed. We did this the same day we arrived in Rome, and it was a good way to relax and learn about the surrounding area without having to rent a car. It also introduces you to the local wine. This was my third time visiting Rome, and I am super glad I did this tour.

Paris Chocolate and Pastry Food Tour

Paris, France

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

This tour was one of the best I have ever taken, and I have taken a lot of tours throughout Europe with Viator in countless cities. This is a local tour where a Parisian expert walks you through St. Germain-des-Pres and introduces you to high-end chocolatiers as well as boulangeres. I had no idea we would sample as many items as we did and then discuss the various awards the owners had and how they differ from each other. This is no ordinary tour; it is quite extraordinary. Our guide, Myriam, was superb. Our entire group agreed she was an amazing teacher who knew her food and shared her expertise. All of us were so thrilled, every one in our group reached for tip money immediately following the tour and were pleased to give it to her. If you are a foodie or a person who just wants to learn the area and about how passionate the French are for quality ingredients, take this tour. It will be a highlight of your trip. It is also a wonderful way to peel back a layer into how the Parisians live. I can't say enough good about it.

Skip the Line: Eiffel Tower Tickets and Small-Group Tour

Paris, France

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

I loved this tour. First, you get to skip the hours-long line to get in. Second, you get a guide who teaches you the history of the tower and shares facts and stories you wouldn't normally know. for example, we were taught how the tower survived Nazi occupation - fascinating story. Our guide was an American who was studying at the AUP for her Master's degree. She was personable and knew everything not only about the tower, but also about the city. You learn a lot more than trying to just do the tour on your own. This tour is awesome.
