Mont Saint Michel Day Trip
Paris, France
My Rating

Wonderful tour, highly recommended. It was an awesome experience to approach the island and enter the village of Mont St. Michel. The monastery was awesome. The guide (I didn't get her name) was very good. Only thing is that the battery on her speaker died so we missed some of her commentary. This was rectified shortly. A long trip but worth every Euro.

Provence Le Grand Tour
Avignon, France
My Rating

Another fantastic tour. Pretty long and tiring (especially for the tour guide, I would say!) as it stretched approximately 10.5 hours. It was very comprehensive and it gave us a chance to see the important parts of the region. The coliseum and aqueduct were awesome. The villages of Gordes, Rosillon and Les Baux were quaint and unique in their own way (I may have seen them during the Lavender tour. I forget). The only negative is that it was very hot so we had to seek the shade whenever we stopped at a site. All in all, an excellent way to get acquainted with Provence. Our guide, Selene, was accommodating with our request to stop by a lavender field and a sunflower field for some photos. It was difficult though to hear her speak on the microphone, so I missed quite a bit of explanation along the way. This continued even when I pointed out the deficiency to the guide.

Small Group Provence and Lavender Museum Day Trip from Avignon
Avignon, France
My Rating

Fantastic tour. The lavender flowers in some fields were not in full bloom when we did the tour (end of June 2012) so the colours were not so vibrant. However, our guide (Ann) took us to other fields where the flowers were blooming more. The lavender museum and the lavender distillery farm were also interesting to visit. A different tour from the rest, however, very special and enjoyable.

Ettal Monastery and Zugspitze Day Tour from Munich
Munich, Germany
My Rating

In terms of WOW factor, the Zugspitze tour wins hands down! We were very fortunate to get sunny weather on the day of our tour. We got fantastic views of the peak , surrounding mountains and glacier. Note: very important to bring along an extra layer of warm clothing or you will freeze like I did in shorts, a t-shirt and a thin runner's jacket. It was 9C at the peak with gusty winds whereas back in Munich it was around 30C. Ettal Monastery was also very good although we did not have much time to spend there as the queue for the cable car ride up Zugspitze was very long (1/2 hour wait) leaving us not much time for the Monastery. Beautiful alpine scenery along the way. Gunther, our guide, did a great job. Some of the passengers were not heeding to his instructions to be on time. Very inconsiderate.

Royal Castles of Neuschwanstein and Linderhof Day Tour from Munich
Munich, Germany
My Rating

If you have time to do just one tour while in Munich, I highly recommend you take the Royal Castle Tour. The scenery along the way, the castle and its surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful. Too bad we could not take pictures inside the castle. However, you can buy books on the castle and its interior at its souvenir shop. Overall, a truly magical experience. Ellen, our guide, was excellent as well.

The journey was better than the destination itself as Eagles Nest was unfortunately shrouded in clouds the day we visited it. On well, no one can control Mother Nature.

Romantic Road, Rothenburg and Harburg Day Tour from Munich
Munich, Germany
My Rating

Fantastic tour, highly recommended. Rothenburg and Harburg were both very interesting and picturesque. Climbing up the tower in Rothenburg and seeing the medieval town below was one of the highlights. The scenery along the way was wonderful, too. Our guide, Ellen, was excellent.

Salzburg and Lake District Day Tour from Munich
Munich, Germany
My Rating

Lovely excursion, however, reference to 'The Sound of Music' should be kept to the minimum as most of the sights we saw were definitely not related to the movie. It was pretty rushed in Salzburg. It was also odd that the tour guide had to take us around surreptitiously while in the city. Appearently, the locals do not like non-residents doing the job.
