It was most enjoyable- our guide was excellent especially in getting us right to the front entrance of the Villa
de Rothschild when there would otherwise been a stiff gradient to climb(especially for two oldies!). Our main
comment though would be that the Villa definitely requires at least another half hour. We have travelled widely, seen many "great houses" and this definitely surpasses them, the house and contents were so interesting there was unfortunately no time for the wonderful gardens.
We did find it interesting and gave a different perspective to our knowledge of Malta, however we were
disappointed to be with a group of only French speaking tourists, which resulted in the guide giving more time and attention to her explanations to them, in fact toward the end of the tour we had to remind her that she had made no explanations on various things in English
This Gallery is well worth a visit and our Guide was excellent. Within 1-1/2 hrs we had expert commentary on the main paintings/sculptures of interest and then were able to spend whatever time we wanted, at our leisure to peruse the rest of the gallery.
This was a most interesting day, it really helped to put World War 1 in this area in perspective.
We were unfortunate however to have a guide, who obviously wished he was elsewhere. totally disinterested!
Unless you were in the front seat, you could not hear the commentary whilst in the vehicle, due to his accent and a faulty speaker, which he twice forget to even turn on. On meeting the 3 parties who took this tour he did not bother to introduce himself to anyone or want to answer questions.
Everyone should go to Dachau at least once in their lifetime. I cannot speak to highly of our guide Keith,
on his very professional, knowledgeable and unbiased commentary.
