Washington D.C., District of Columbia
I first saw the tours online before our holiday. Decided not to book it until we were in the USA with our family to see if they had any suggestions. When did finally book the tour (48 hour) we were at a beach resort with WiFi but NO printer. So I was NOT able to print off the voucher I was sent. I could have sent it on to the Hop-on-Hop-off people but the e-mail address was not made too clear...neither was the IMPORTANCE of doing this made clear enough. When you are travelling all sorts of things take priority and we also had time zones to deal with. So when we got to Washington and I turned up at Union Station and had only a copy of my e-mail from you and a copy of the voucher on my iPhone ( which in this day and age should be enough as I had a reference number loud and clear and identification on me) I was refused my voucher. So we lost out on 24 hrs. That evening I did send the voucher and the next day we were able to do the tours.
They were very good and informative. I am glad we did them, but no real need to book in advance.....easy enough to do when you get to Washington.
We have to young children so it was nice not to have to do all the walking with them.
Probably just what we wanted. We have two children that did ok for the hour long tour. Nice to be able to go straight into the Basilica. We learnt some history and enjoyed that. St Marks is so busy all the time with tourists, I think that you can't really last more than an hour at a time. Tour guide was good....we had ear pieces that helped us hear her even when she was not facing us. They worked well. Se spoke good English.....which is a must if you are to take in all the facts.
