It was raining, our driver was right on time, we thought they were picking us up too early but they obviously know more than we did!! An efficient transfer right to the departures for Iberia Express. Was so glad we booked this service in advance, couldn´t have coped with the hastle of trying to find transport.

The guide on the coach was very informative, we had already been on the hop-on hop-off city tour for two days but he showed us places that we hadn´t already seen and told us things we didn´t know. Commentary in English and Spanish, as only the Spanish do, they talked very loudly during the English commentary, as my Spanish is very good I understood most of what the guide said in Spanish but felt sorry for the English who didn´t. Florida Park is a superb venue, very impressive and the show was fabulous. We had opted for the dinner option. The meal was a disgrace. We had prawn Cocktail for starter, which was just okay, main meal, meat drowned in a pepper sauce and peas, carrots and silver skin onions and two potatoes. The food was cold. One bottle of red wine between 5 (although when asked for another bottle, one was bought to us). Sweet was very rich and sickly and half a glass of Cava. For the price we paid for this trip, the meal was disgusting. We watched other people who had opted for the Tapas meal, which looked far superior to ours. The coach dropped us off at our hotel which was a bonus.

Raining heavily the day we went. A long walk from the coach to the El Escorial. This should be stated in the information about the trip because for people with mobility problems, it is totally unsuitable. The whole experience was exhausting for us, as we both have hip and knee problems. Felt the guide was constantly rushing us. Then on to the Valley of the Fallen, which is in a beautiful setting, unfortunately with the rain and the mist, we weren´t able to fully take in the beauty of the place, Yet again we were rushed around by the guide. Would have liked more time here to truly reflect on the place. Would like to return but without a guide. The guide was very knowledgable but there was information in English all the way round, so would have preferred to do this at our own pace.

Our flight from Alicante to Madrid was delayed. Found the office in Madrid Airport easily enough, guy very pleasant at the desk and our shuttle arrived within 10 minutes. Driver was very nice and gave us lots of interesting information and pointed out various places of interest to us. Was so glad we had opted for this transfer from Madrid airport to our hotel.
