Born and raised in Brooklyn and Staten Island. Moved to Texas a long time ago. Miss NYC but do not miss the cold weather. I have a great husband and kids who are grown, married and out of the house; I have two adorable grandkids. I miss my family members who have left us. I'm blessed to have some wonderful friends who have become family and who have been there for both the good times and the bad. I am truly glad that because of FB, I have been able to reconnect with friends that I had lost touch. If you don't want my opinion on something,it is best not to be around me; and finally, I pray for world peace in the same way our late, great President Reagan did and I am a libertarian at heart in that I hate most 'socialist' and income redistribution programs and don't really want the government legislating everything that we can and cannot do. Wait, there is more... I really dislike stupid people, especially those who think they know everything.

Green Island Day Trip from Cairns

Cairns, Australia

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

Pick up and drop off were easy. The Catamaran was smooth to Green Island. We had a great day and enjoyed the semi-submersible, glass bottom boat and snorkeling. We did pay the extra for the wet suits and my husband wore his primarily not to get sunburned although they were recommended to prevent any jelly fish stings. I simply could not get mine on and had no problems. Don't forget beach towels, sunscreen and whatever else you need for a day at the beach. Just an FYI: bring your own coffee if you are picky and pack a lunch for the same reason as well as the time factor. We definitely recommend this day tour.

Sydney Taronga Zoo General Entry Ticket and Wild Australia Experience

Sydney, Australia

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

We had a great day at the Sydney Taronga Zoo. The Cable Car was under maintenance so we did not get to do that but we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the zoo and the Wild Australia Experience was not only educational but was so much fun! The zoo keeper who guided our small group of 8 was knowledgeable and we got to do and see so much behind the scenes. It was our first full day in Sydney and what a wonderful introduction to the native wildlife. We highly recommend Wild Australia if you want to pet and feed Wallaby's, Kangaroos and other animals and get up close and personal with those cute little Koalas!

Kata Tjuta Small Group Tour

Ayers Rock, Australia

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

Excellent walking tour of the Wolpa Gorge and nice drive through the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Our guide was very informative and our very small group learned a lot about the area and the native inhabitants, wild life and plants. Make sure you wear good, sturdy sneakers, bring plenty of water, and bug repellent! Our guide did have a water jug to replenish our smaller bottles and he carried a natural bug repellent cream as well. Others on our tour had hats with mesh but we were not quite that prepared but given the fact that our one piece of checked luggage didn't get on our flight, we had to make due with the items we had in our carry on. If you are going to take this tour, make sure sneakers, and bug spray are in your carry-on! This tour got back in time for us to make the Sounds of Silence Dinner pick-up and it was a very informative, moderately strenuous introduction to the Outback.

Sounds of Silence Restaurant

Ayers Rock, Australia

My Review

This is where I checked off "seeing the Southern Cross" from my bucket list! We had such an enjoyable evening and recommend that if you make it as far as Ayers Rock, then you absolutely must book the Sounds of Silence dinner. I am a bit picky with what I will eat so Kangaroo and Crocodile were avoided but there was plenty to drink and eat of all sorts; however, you do not attend this dinner for the food. Make plans to attend if you have a desire to see stars and a part of the universe you can not normally see if you live in the northern hemisphere or in any city where there is simply too much light. The astronomers were informative and we learned how to find land (sky)marks in the southern sky. There is a good telescope to see things up close once the lecture is over. On our remaining nights in Australia and New Zealand, we were able to find the stars, galaxies, and planets that we learned about at the dinner. This is a MUST DO on your visit to Ayers Rock.
