Our tour guide, Vanessa, was extremely knowledgeable about all the art and the raison d'être of the Vasari corridor. It was amazing to be the only group (about 14 people) in the corridor. Such an interesting experience. Well worth the visit
Our tour guide, Roberta, was highly informative and efficient. We had areas of the palace opened only to our group, and it was great to see the old prisons and hear the history. It was obvious that Roberta is passionate about her city and was eager to provide as much information as possible. Highly recommended.
Sadly, Andrea our guide, did not appear terribly enthusiastic about showing us the different side of Venice. There were long periods of silence while walking. We did learn about the early Campos (squares) and saw where the gondolas are still being made. The gondola ride did not last for as long as advertised, the gondolier waited in the grand canal without bothering to row, waiting for the time to pass before we disembarked. It was very hot, but we paid for more than we received.
This is a fantastic experience where you will travel along ancient roads and paths that would be too difficult to find on your own. Our tour guide was wonderful, full of information about the region, both currently and historically. It was all so interesting. The wine and cheese were appreciated towards the end. On Sundays, the Appian Way is closed to traffic, so a pleasant and safe 6 hour bike ride.
