The bus was great and the narrative was interesting and easy to understand, however because of the large crowds and infrequency of busses, we didnt "hop on, hop off" much because we were afraid of not having a seat available on subsequent busses.

When we contacted the local operator to confirm our tour the day before, they told us the tour was scheduled for 9am although our vouchers read 10am. Apparently they didnt inform the other guests, so after arriving at 8:45, we still waited around until 10am. The guide announced that we would be going to Ephesus and then lunch, and then a rug factory, jewelry factory and leather factory. We specifically chose this tour (and avoid the cruise ship tours) to avoid the shopping. I asked if we were going to see St. Marys house and St. John's basilica (a priority for my husband) and the guide said they were closed for rennovations. After lunch at the rug factory, and none of the guests interested in making a purchase, he asked if anyone was interested in leather. When our group (a nice sized group of 14) said "no", he then took us to St. Mary's house and the basilica - both of which were open and showed no signs of ongoing rennovations. Other than this, the tour was great, the guide was knowledgeable and the large van was comfortable and well air conditioned.

The van pickup was very late (45 minutes) which is very frustrating when there is no way to call them in the evening to confirm meeting location and time. Otherwise, the food, service, and entertainment was outstanding!

I'm really not sure if this is worth doing...unless you have physical limitations and want to see the city without getting off the bus. Traffic in Istanbul was so bad, we actually got off the bus and walked to make more efficient use of our time.

Our guide, the group size and meeting place were all fantastic! Our guide's knowledge and obvious love of art history made the tour even more remarkable! Walking past the lines that snaked around the buildings was priceless! although I often enjoy self-guided audiotours, with the non-stop crowds and tours at the Vatican a guided tour would be the only way to not get completely overwhelmed. This is a must-do!
