Inverness, United Kingdom
This tour is long, but it delivers all of its promises. For those concerned about meals, the stop in Kirkwall is perfect for grabbing lunch (I like The Reel), and they offer to have a sandwich prepared for you for the ride back for 3.5 GBP. The tour bus driver for the Orkney Islands portion is hilarious. I really enjoyed his playful banter and informative style. My husband said the lady leading the tour from Inverness to John O'Groats was informative as well, but I slept. I felt really ill on the ferry ride from John O'Groats to Orkney. Keep in mind that the waters are rough there, and, if you get motion sick, you should bring ginger or whatever works best for you. My PSI bands weren't enough for me.Seeing Orkney is really special, but I wish I had more than 6 hours. (Especially since you spend longer than 6 hours traveling there and back.)
