3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

The walking tour was quite good however I think the company should make people aware who are going on this that you cannot take back packs into St Mark's Basilica and try to discourage them from bringing them. We had to wait 5/10minutes whilst the 6 people who had them, lodged them in a depository about 100m away and again 5/10 minutes whilst they picked them up.This was actually longer than we spent inside. The tour of the Basilica was disapointing, we didn't really go all round. I would estimate our tour inside at 15 minutes, tops. The rest of the walk was very good and interesting and took in lots of back streets and squares. The grand canal tour in the afternoon was excellent with a maximum of 8 people in a private water taxi with an expert guide.

Murano Glass and Burano Lace Tour from Venice

Venice, Italy

My Rating
2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

My Review

Although we had a lovely guide with us and the boat trip to both islands was great we actually only spent 10minutes in the glass factory and didn't see any glass blowing and then about an hour of quite hard selling in the showrooms by the owners of the place. I wish I had realised this when I booked. I would have preferred to o to the glass museum which I understand is wonderful. Once again in Burano we were taken to a shop where one lady was making lace and once again we spent some time being shown ' wonderful ' table cloths etc. luckily we managed to escape after 15 minutes and spent the rest of the time walking around this charming little island and getting a. Coffee and Gelato

My Review

We were met by a lady called Allessandra Who whisked us by the hoardes of people who hadn't prebooked so that we entered the Vaticam Museum right on the dot of 10am
We were then taken around the museum, The Sistine Chapel,The Raphael rooms and finally St Peter's Basillica. What a tour.Allesandra was a fountain of knowledge and showed great enthusiasm for her job.The 3 hour tour seemed to fly by and like all the tours we went on with Viator was seamlessly organised. Thank you

My Review

We were met by a lady called called Claudia who it turned out is an archeologist by profession. The Colosseum was actually shut to tour guides that day as the staff were on strike so she gave us a detailed talk aided by photographs about the Colosseum so that at the end of our tour we could go in unguided but have a good knowledge of what we were looking at.
We then proceeded to have a wonderful 3 hours with Claudia explaining everything we saw in the Forum.Senate and Palantine Hill in great detail. When the tour finished she took our group of 20 people back to the Colosseum and walked us pass the enourmous queue of people who hadn't prebooked and got us in in about 5 minutes. A Serious result!! We can thoroughly recommend this tour to anyone and hope you get Claudia as your guide
