Los Angeles Departure Transfer: from Anaheim and Buena Park Hotels

Anaheim - Buena Park, California

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

I called the day before to reserve the trip (less than 24 hours) and that was sufficient. They gave me a pick up time 3 hours before my flight and that seemed to have been calculated well. We were the first of several stops they made. I had a bit of the problem as the driver told me we had pre-paid only partially, though my voucher clearly showed it had been paid in full, so now I'm worried more might be charged to my credit card.

Go Los Angeles Card

Los Angeles, California

My Rating
2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

My Review

Los Angeles is just too big and traffic too slow to make this cost-effective, unless you limit your visits to one geographical area (Hollywood, downtown, Santa Monica) per day. We had a one day pass. I had planned a studio tour for the end of the day and left from Santa Monica with a little over an hour to get there, but traffic made that impossible and we missed the tour.

Los Angeles Arrival Transfer: to Anaheim and Buena Park Hotels

Los Angeles, California

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

There are probably cheaper ways of getting to your hotel, but this worked just fine. I was amazed how long the drive was - over an hour to Anaheim though there weren't traffic jams at the time we traveled.

Southern California CityPASS

Anaheim - Buena Park, California

My Rating

My Review

We had only one week in Los Angeles and spent 5 or those days using this pass. In hindsight, I would have liked to spend more days seeing the sights of L.A. outside the amusement parks (those were my wife's decision) but the parks were also wonderful, Disney especially. Disney opens at 8 (even sometimes possible at 7) and doesn't close until midnight so be ready to burn the midnight oil to take full advantage. There's plenty to do, even without kids in tow. In SeaWorld and Universal we spent A LOT extra to get front of the line passes which definitely helped us to see more, and provided premium seating at the shows which was wonderful. Disney doesn't offer this but has a more democratic system that all pass holders can reserve a time and come back to the main attractions and not wait so long. I advise using that to the fullest extent.

Eiffel Tower, Paris Moulin Rouge Show and Seine River Cruise

Paris, France

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

The excursion was well organized. We had an "interesting" dinner on the cruise. There was a brochure on the table telling the main sights but it would have been nice to also hear some commentary. We had longer than expected at the Eiffel Tower, from about 20.30 - 22.10, so got a chance to also go across the river for the view of the tower there as the sparkling lights started at 22.00 (lasted only 5 minutes). Was disappointed by the furthest-from-the-stage seats at the Moulin Rouge but still could see pretty well (but a guy likes to get closer up to that kind of show!). Bus return to hotel was very well organized. Over all, a very nice evening!

Paris City Segway Tour

Paris, France

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

In addition to the tour, Segways are just fun to ride! And our guide gave us plenty of time to just ride around as we pleased in the Eiffel Tower park. Perhaps too much time, maybe we should have spent some of that seeing other sights not too far away like Notre Dame or the Opera house. We had the only guide whose mother tongue was not English, but French. As an American, I had no problem with his English but I'm not sure how much my Russian wife understood. He (Carl) was very knowledgeable in history and had a lot of interesting commentary.
