The main attraction to the Wieliczka Salt Mine is the Cathedral/Church inside the mine which is pretty elaborate. Otherwise, enjoyable but not as spectacular in other areas as I would have hoped.

Niedzica Castle was nothing fancy but the Dunajec River Gorge was lovely and took some great pictures. This was well worth the trip and much better than the tour to Zakopane.

As other reviews have noted, there's very little sightseeing of the "mountains." instead, it's a bunch of junky shops overtaking the view and scenery of nature. If you are coming for nature and quality photographs, this is not the trip to take. We enjoyed much more the dunajec river gorge rafting trip.

Our guide was entertaining and knowledgable about nowa hutta and the rise and fall of communism. We had a more entertaining ride in a hot pink trabant with leopard spots. Definitely made people laugh!

Though we enjoyed our tour, it was more of a museum and less of a tour of the place. So that was a disappointment. Rushed people in and rushed them out. Kind of like a carnival at a very inappropriate setting. I think a different set up would be better. It wasn't as moving as it could have and should have been.

Really enjoyed the tour through remu synagogue and the cemetery which dates back to 1551 and was the only Jewish cemetery not destroyed in krakow during WWII. Also, they retrieved some of the tombstones that were stolen and used to make sidewalks and roads. It was nice to see they had been returned in some manner.

Airport transfer was fine, but our English speaking guide didn't speak much English. Poor guy was a little embarrassed about this. But overall, no trouble and he let us stop to exchange $$ so that was nice.
