My husband and I highly recommend using Viator and their English-speaking tour guides to visit the Colosseum and Ancient Rome. Had we not taken the guided tour, we would have missed 90% of the significance of what we were seeing. Truly amazing.

The ONLY way to visit the Vatican City is with a guide that speaks your language. We had an elegant English-speaking guide. She must have been an Art-History master, as her knowledge of same within the Vatican City made the tour superb. VERY highly recommend this tour to others who visit.

Very hard to find the bus stops...and they are pretty limited as compared to other cities we've traveled. And, sometimes they switch up the route so the stops change without notice!! We got the 48-hour pass, but it was probably a very expensive way to travel the city. We should have spent more time trying to understand the bus/train metro system.
