Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
Rome, Italy
My Rating

Our guide, David, was superb. Full of interesting information that was easy to listen to. I was thrilled to walk on a live volcano and one so infamous. The pizza in Naples was absolutely delicious. The ruins of Pompeii were fascinating and older and in much better condition than Rome's. The only disappointment was the weather. Cloud on Mt. Vesuvius kept us from seeing anything but the ground beneath our feet (not even the crater when I stood right next to it) and we got drenched with rain in Pompeii.

This was the main attraction I wanted to see and it was good to do with Dark Rome Tours. The guide was interesting and funny and the stories were easy to listen to and informative.

Perhaps if you like art you would find it more interesting but the three hour tour of the museum was too much for me. Unfortunately my timing fell in sync with the electing of the new pope meaning the Sistine Chapel was closed. This tour then only took us around the museum and I didn't find my guide easy to listen to.

Small-Group Italian Cooking Class in Florence
Florence, Italy
My Rating

Absolutely brilliant!! It was very personal since there ended up only being two of us in the class. We started out at the markets that was interesting and yummy. We got to do some taste-testing while learning more about the basic products and how they use them. Then we went to the cooking school to whip up some lunch. The school itself was very functionable and well-layed out and clean. Our chef, who had accompanied us through the markets, was wonderful; patient, helpful and a pleasure to learn from. We made tiramisu and pasta from scratch and a bolognaise sauce. All was delicious when we ate it at the end. I'm definitely gonna have a go at making more pasta at home.

Tuscany in One Day Sightseeing Tour
Florence, Italy
My Rating

We stopped via Siena, San Gimignano and Pisa and all stops were an adequate length to roam, take photos and enjoy. We ate delicious gelati from a gelatiria that's won an award for being the best in the world. The included lunch was a yummy treat of typical Italian food accompanied by wine at a nice vineyard. Our English guide who's been living in Florence for some time (forgotten her name) was lovely, informative and kept everyone cheery with happy, easy going nature.

Three Countries in One Day: France, Andorra and Spain from Barcelona
Barcelona, Spain
My Rating

There wasn't a whole lot to see in each place we stopped honestly. Just little village towns. It was nice to have a hot drink and crossaint included. The scenery on the drive was wonderful though but the highlight--as an Australian--was to be in three different countries in one day. Good guide.

I was the only one on the tour so the guide fitted the tour to my interests which was nice. The segway I found easy to use the instructional/trial part of the tour was clear and unpressured.
