We were collected promptly from our hotel by a very charming girl. She route marched us along Kartner Strasse to the State Opera, where we boarded the coach to transfer us to the departure point.
There were a lot of coaches and a lot of people and it was a bit muddled as to which coach we should board. Once sorted though everything was fine.
The tour guide (Tommy) was great and gave good commentaries.
The Danube Canal boat trip is so beautiful and very relaxing.
Once at Melk, our coach was waiting to take us to the monastery.
What an absolutely beautiful place! A definite 'must see'. We had the best guide, Sabina, who was very knowledgeable and answered any questions our group had.
You also have time to visit the gardens and have a spot of lunch, if you didn't already on the boat!
A very memorable day and all for the best reasons.
If you don't have time for many trips then do this one, it's well worth it.
We were collected promptly from our hotel by a very charming girl. The route marched us along Kartner Strasse to the State Opera, where we boarded the coach to transfer us to the departure point. We had no problems with the coach or tour guide. Unfortunately there were some 'stragglers' who didn't seem to care that they were late and made no effort, throughout the tour, to keep up. This was a half day trip and the sites were very nice. Seegroote was amazing! I think the Mayerling hunting lodge could have been left out. We were dropped at the bottom of the hill, climbed up and went into a chapel and then had to board the coach again. Not really worth stopping there in my opinion, as we did not get to see inside the hunting lodge because it is a convent. All in all a nice half day out because of the scenery and the underground lake.
