The rating reflected: 1) The itinerary meant it was a very long day. Vesuvius was nice but it was an extremely hot day and including the travelling time, we arrived at Pompeii at 11am and Vesuvius at 3pm (ie, hottest parts of the day). We sepnt half the time on the road (6 hrs + a bit more on traffic going into rome) and the same at the sites. I guess that cannot be helped since its trying to fit everything in 1 day as this is what the tour is advertised for. In the future, I will not consider a day tour with such a long travelling times again. 2) The accompanying guides were helpful but I felt they could've done more talking over the mic enroute to entertain during the 6+ hr bus trip (especially when we were stuck in traffic, we probably wouldn't have noticed the traffic as much if they kept us entertained with relevant rome/pompeii stories). Whilst helpful, they were also keen to upsell other tours they offered. The local Pompeii guide was good.

Driver appeared at the station waiting for us on time.
Whilst he spoke no english, he still made an effort to point out landmarks to us enroute to hotel.
