My Rating

My boyfriend and I did this tour on our first morning in Montreal. We arrived the night before, walked around a little bit and I remember having felt a bit disappointed in the city. I was expecting something more romantic, more French, more Paris-like based on the picture painted by the guidebooks. But in the morning, through this gourmet food tour, it's impossible not to fall in love with the city, because you hear about the history, you are told where to look and what to notice, you smell and taste great local produce in small delicatessens / restaurants, learn about which is the best cafe in the whole city....all that in a very small group (8 + guide), so it ends up being quite a personal experience.
Tip: tour started with the guide treating us for coffee and macaroons and I really regretted that croissant and latte that I had in a Starbucks just half an hour before the rendez-vous.
What did we taste: first place served fois gras, then local cheese and apple quintessence (tastes likely apple-y balsamic vinegar), the maple sirop icecream.
Guide: very knowledgeable, a real foodie, fluent in english and in French ( tour was in English), thinks much faster then he talks, so in his mind sometimes he was way ahead and it felt as if he was jumping around a bit. But all you need to do is listen closely and can ask a question any time.
Overall: we had a great time and can only recommend it
PS. : We went back to the fois gras place a couple of days later for lunch. We were not disappointed!
