The tour lasts about an hour and a half, and you do get admission into the Notre Dame cathedral with it (although not a lot of time if you want to really check it out and take photos). We did end up walking around places we didn't see on our own, and the guide does give you a good overview of the history of the area. It was worthwhile. We ate at the end of the tour at Cabaret Du Roy, a great spot with terrific food and outdoor tables, not in the absolute center of the tourist area. (The meal was on our own, not part of the tour)
This is a good trip to book if you are spending time in Montreal. My wife and I thought it was the perfect amount of time to spend in Quebec...but we did not do the boat part of the trip. We heard from others who did the boat that they felt rushed and didn't have enough time walking around the city. You get on the bus around 8am (and they have a little bag of food for you, not much - eat breakfast!), and the trip lasts 3hrs to Quebec. It's a nice, pretty ride. You get out and have some time for lunch and then gather again with the group for a walking tour, and then on the bus to do a tour of parts more easily done by bus. The guide was terrific. After the bus part, the boat people go to the boat, but we wandered around and sat down for a nice meal before we got on the bus again later. Back to the hotel by 10pm. Quebec City is nice! This is something i'd recommend.
