The Island of Mljet (Croatia) is a truly wonderful place to visit. It offers beautiful vistas of lush green natural vegetation, absolutely beautiful lakes, the quaint Church of Marija on a dimunitive little island (easy to stroll around the whole island in less than 30 minutes), and a stunning bike route (easy to rent a high quality mountain bike). For Christians, this island has an added attraction as being one of the stop-over places for Paul during his missionary endeavours. I can highly recommend this one-day trip to anyone visiting Dubrovnik or the Dalmatia area in Croatia.
