Such a benefit having an experienced guide to help you through the crazy entrance into the square, but more importantly, to help you find the best seats. Whilst it is nice to be 'up the front' for the Audience proper, being back a little is fine - given the video screens and speakers. The real thrill, and this is where the 'best' seats come into their own, is being positioned well when the Pope drives through the square. I was no more than 3 metres from the Pope, thanks too our guide. A great day, and great commentary from our guide as we waited for the Audience to begin.
We were well looked after by our guide, Amadeus. Keep us fully informed as to timings, and was a constant reminder to be sure to guard our belongings, as pickpockets are a problem in the area. The lunch provided was just great...great pasta, wine, dessert, a nice shot of Limoncino (as opposed to Limoncello)...a great way to end our day @ Cinque Terre. Highly recommend this tour.
A great day with our guide. This was my second visit to San Gimignano, but the first with a local guide to show us inside the city walls...was great. Amazing stories, lots of history. And the trip to the Chianti winery...just great. Lots of tasting options...be sure to bring a few euro with you to buy some wine at the store front. You won't be disappointed.
