Dinner and Show at the Moulin Rouge by Private Car

Paris, France

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review
I will never, ever forget this experience! Viator was incredible, because we were in the very first seats, right up against the stage and right in the center, too. It was scary, how close we were. Of course, we could have gotten to the place on our own, but the driver was full of interesting facts about Paris and the monuments we passed, so it was an informative ride. He took us right in, and handed us to the Maitre 'D for seating. Then he was waiting for us across the street when we got out 4 hours later. The food was excellent considering 1000 people were eating, and there was plenty of champagne! I know it was expensive, but it was really a first class experience. The private car is good for people who may be put off by the long line, or don't feel comfortable walking around that area, or jumping into the metro. For us, it was just a splurge... as I said, the driver did tell us some things that we hadn't ever heard before and I know alot about Paris! So, it was all worth it. Moulin Rouge show was incredible.

Paris Food Walking Tour: Gourmet French Food

This was quite a treat. We were taken by a Parisian native, who spoke fluent English, for freshly roasted and ground coffee and croissants, then to a special cheese shop to taste everything, and then to a pate and fois gras store for more eating and tasting with special wines, too. There was no pressure to buy anything. We were with our group of 6 for 4 hours. I sure wish cheese tasted the same here in the States!

French Wine Tasting in Paris

Paris, France

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review
This was very well organized and just really fantastic. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys wine. The sommelier was fun and informative and not at all pretentious. I learned a lot about wine and "terroir", as well as the current wine industry in France. We also got to eat wonderful cheeses and bread and pateham. A really special treat.

This was so much fun. We got lots of attention from everyone around town driving around in this adorable car. The driver was very cute and French and the top was down, and we had blankets if we got cold. He drove all over city, telling us wonderful, little known facts. We loved it!

Paris Pass

I've always used this, but more and more, I am realizing how limited it is. If you are going to a special exhibit in a museum, it might get you to the head of the line, which helps, but you still have to pay to get in. Some museums, like the Marmatton, are not covered at all. However, it did get us to the top of the Montparnasse Tower and the Arche de Triomphe. You definitely need to do your homework and figure out what you want to see and do and whether this will help. There was a two hour wait for the Grande Palais, and this didn't help with that at all. On earlier trips to Paris, when we wanted to get into the Louvre, and other major museums, it was just great. So, I still recommend it. Just don't have unrealistic expectations about where it will get you in. And remember, if it is a special exhibit, you will still have to pay! This pass came with the Metro Pass, which is invaluable. You have to have this pass, if you want to really enjoy Paris. We walked for miles a day, but we also used our metro passes. I would never go to Paris without a metro pass!

Champagne Tasting on a Seine River Cruise

Paris, France

My Rating

My Review
I recommend this, but it was very unorganized for us. There was a problem with the boat, so there was a delay of one hour. Then, since we were probably hitching a ride on another Seine cruise, we had some trouble keeping our group together in the front of the boat. The poor woman in charge of us had to borrow glasses, and there weren't enough for everyone. Some late comers had to drink their champagne out of plastic cups!! Luckily we had glasses and the three champagnes were new to us and fantastic. So, dispite the rough start, by the time we had made our loop around Paris, we had enjoyed three wonderful champagnes. I would not have been pleased if I had been the one to get the plastic cup, though!
